It looks like I may very well be done playing TSW3. Not because I want to be but because the game doesn't want me to play it! I have almost all of the content . Only thing not owned are Trenton, the two new Germa routes and train pack 2. Started yesterday when I deleted my profile data to start again because I want to finish a steam run without getting the "Service Failure" message EVERY damn time. The game started crashing back to dashboard either while booting up or after it got to the main menu. I uninstalled it from my expansion card did a bit of shuffling around and installed it on my Series S internal drive after clearing the console cache and restarting it. Now the game gets as far as the Dovetail logo before freezing for about 30 seconds and crashing back to desktop. Means I can get on with finishing 2 and 2020 but I'm gonna miss out on the new content and enjoying long relaxing runs on Kassel
How did you delete your profile? Maybe this broke something. You could’ve just created a new driver instead.
I tried creating a new driver profile and still couldn't finish a single steam run so decided the only other option was to start over from scratch playwise. I deleted it the way I always have. Go into Saved data, select my game save and select delete everywhere. The issue with it breaking something is that reinstalling the game would rectify that and the game still crashes so deleting the save data isn't the issue
Hey - can I ask you submit a Support ticket to the team, please? https://dovetailgames.freshdesk.com/support/solutions Please provide as much information as you can, and they'll try to help.
Appreciate the response, seems like contacting support like JD suggests is indeed the best idea in this case.
I read something on the forums the other day about manual firing being enabled and causing the service failure. If you manage to get the game running again, check manual firing isn't enabled.
It's looking to me like the problem is DTG live. I can get the game to load up but as soon as I sign in to DTG and start a new driver profile the game gets very choppy and crashes back to dashboard. I'm going to try just starting as though I don't have a DTG live account and see what happens. If that works then I'll try making a new DTG live account and see what happens there. I'm just hoping that starting from fresh means I can drive the steam engines because if not the I've wasted money on both SOS and the WCL steam railtour
Always had it set to auto or assisted. Would rather just enjoy driving the loco and not have to worry about when the fire needs stoking
It seems the problem is with my DTG game profile because I managed to play without signing in. Looks like I need a new profile then. Deleting my game data didn't fix the reason I did it though because even driving the steam engine without a profile signed in I still get service failure so SOS is completely broken for me and affects EVERY steam run in the game across all routes!
Hello, I'm sorry to hear your problem. On my XBOX Series S it is TSW2 that broke and ended up burning its Graphics card out, It is fixed now but I can never play TSW2 on it again. Not to worry too much about as I now have TSW3 on the PC and PS5 but unfortunately I no longer have all of the DLC I had for TSW2 on the XBOX which is sad as money has been wasted on it. I am slowly getting back my lost DLC on PC and PS5 but it was a shame and I am very sad to hear that you are going through the same sort of thing but worse really.. Hope all goes well and you get help and are easily able to Recover your Game. Kindest of Regards, Benjamin.
Unfortunately, there's nothing you as a player can do to fix that particular error on SoS. It's a bug that DTG are working on a fix for, which renders a bunch of services on the route impossible to complete and has done so for a long time now. It's caused by an AI service triggering a SPAD. A new profile would experience the exact same issue, because everyone gets it, it's a bug in the route itself.
Don't think I've ever come across that particular problem as mine was EVERY run! After taking the advice of Stujoy and Hentis and putting the Firing mode into auto I've been able to complete runs.
