Hi I'm a player of train sim world 3 on series x and the game just seems to be getting more choppy is anyone else experiencing the same or similar or is it just me
Apparently, some people will shake their heads in disbelief when stuttering is mentioned. Or was it *because* of stuttering? I don't remember... Be careful about complaining, though. Some folks on these forums are sick and tired of it, and culprits will be... not sure actually... banned or something?
Eh, there’s only a couple of people that like to complain about people complaining, majority of people either agree with the issues or are just used to every online community being the same. In any case, I do agree performance is dropping & I suspect DTG know too, which is why we are seeing emptier routes lately.
Is it on one route, or all of them, one train or many of them, in particular locations or all over the place Is it since a particular point in time (ie applicable to a patch) or just over time generally With a bit more information i may be replicable elsewhere and therefore easier for people (ie DTG) to hunt down Usually disbelief happens when people start making sweeping generalisations, talking on behalf of others and calling people names Banning only really happens when things get out of hand... I can think of only a handful of outright bans, and they're usually when someone either trolls other users, or goes around the forum with the same complaint on loads of posts, even those not related to the original topic. There have been a few more "threats to shut down posts" of late but then there's been quite an increase in people posting complaints and then arguing about them so maybe it's half justified
Usually you see this on some tsw3 routes, not all. For example, I've played on bcc and my fps was mostly stable and there were only the occasional tile loading stutters. Really depends on if I had my external gpu connected or not. If I just use my laptop gpu which is nongaming, I get worse performance and more stutters. If I connect my egpu, I tend to get better performance. Legacy routes tend to run more smoother in my opinion.
I get the odd stutter/framerate drop occasionally on series s. I get it a little on sehs, in Victoria on BML and coming in to Crewe on SOS but I haven't noticed it being any worse recently.
On my PC which is only a Intel i5 with a Nvidia 3060 GPU and 32Mb DDR4 ram, I get the odd stutter. However if I switch to external camera views and pan the camera, It stutters every 1 to 2 seconds.
Well, considering the drop in quality of recent releases, I would not be surprised if optimization is also being overlooked. We already know for a fact that there are badly optimized assets in TSW that eat up more resources than they should. So not that hard to imagine that recently more of these are happening due to the rushed releases not recieving the polish and quality control that they should. Getting a bit worried about the future of the series. TSC seems to get a big overhaul, while TSW is falling apart...? Hopefully I am just being overdramatic, but I really wish DTG would get their act together. Everyone would be better with highe quality standards - better quality, happier customers, more sales.
Definitely noticed this becoming an issue recently especially on SEHS I am on series x and it’s one of my worst running routes for some reason ♂️
I thought I'd pop in and mention a couple of things: Firstly, I'm currently replaying all my TSW2 content in TSW3 for the achivements and honestly, I've not seen any noticeable difference whatsover between how things were and how they are now with these routes. Framerates still average between 50-60fps with the same old major dips in certain areas on certain routes (HMA being one of the biggest offenders), micro-stuttering is no different to how it used to be and those horrible shadows are, well, still horrible. The thing is, when you've played TSW2 in excess of 1000 hours you do become accustomed to all those 'quirky' bits - and so far I personally haven't come across anything that has made me think something different is happening in TSW3. Secondly (and I 100% agree with strike Eagle here), it is kind of obvious that there are some glaring performance issues with TSW3 exclusive routes on XBox. Just to clarify, I no longer purchase anything TSW3 related (this isn't a protest thing regarding timetables/QC/broken promises etc etc - it's purely and simply because as a casual train enthusiast it's no longer possible for me to justify the price of TSW content) so I can only comment on what comes with the Gamepass version...but even with the limited availability of content on offer you only need an 'F3' press on keyboard and/or a moderately functioning set of eyeballs to see that something isn't right. Choppy in-cab camera rotation is no longer exclusive to that 'still loading' period at the very start of each journey - It's now present on all three routes on multiple occasions during the journey. There are now detail rendering issues when you zoom in/out with the external camera. But worst of all those framerates no longer sit between 50-60 as they did in TSW2...they can dip as low as 25 on XSX at certain points. On the subject of micro-stuttering I will give DTG the benefit of the doubt though because I can't really say if it's gotten worse or not. Dynamic weather on/off - it really doesn't matter which...overall performance does not alter. Besides, TSW2 has a dynamic weather scenario and aside from a couple of minor blips it runs perfectly fine, so it can't really have anything to do with that particular feature. Sorry for waffling...
The other night I played Boston Providence and lineside shrubs were popping up 50 feet ahead of the train. Then played Hamburg Lubeck. Was about 16:45 and massive shadows were popping up 50 feet ahead of the train. Smashes the immersiveness for me. This is on a PS5 as well. Also recently every game I play goes into fog after 10 minutes, then twenty minutes after that the fog instantly disappears.
This past week I have been playing a mixture of West Cornwall, NTP, Brum and Edinburgh-Glasgow without any issues on the s series well apart from the odd stutter here or there. I definitely wouldn't say it's got any worse though by any means.
I can’t really say which one is worse on my PS5, but the fps drops on certain routes and at certain stations are the one thing that does rustle my Jimmie’s quite frequently. On the plus side when I jump over to play monster hunter (apples and oranges comparison tbh), said game feels soooo silky smooth.
