This is a suggestion for a Gatwick Express Class 460 'Juniper' Loco DLC for use on the Brighton Mainline. The unit would fit right at home on the route, as it would differentiate from the excessive use of Electrostars between London and Brighton. The Class 460 is very popular amongst enthusiasts, with the unit being previously produced by Master Key Simulations for Train Simulator Classic which was an instant hit. Background Info The British Rail Class 460 Juniper is an Electric Multiple Unit passenger train built by Alstom at Washwood Heath between 1999 and 2001. They were part of Alstom's Coradia Juniper family, which also includes Classes 334 and 458. For the entirety of their service life they were operated on Gatwick Express services between London Victoria and Brighton, running fast to Gatwick. The units were eventually withdrawn in Spetember 2012. The unit information is as follows: Consist: 8 Coaches per unit Constructed: 1999 - 2001 Number Built: 8 Unit Numbers: 460001 - 460008 Capacity: 366 Seats The units were based in Stewarts Lane Depot in Battersea, London. The units had both Standard Class & First Class. DMLFO - TFO - TCO - MSO - MSO - TSO - MSO - DMSO The Standard Class seating is pictured below: The First Class compartment is pictured below: The Class 460's cab is pictured below: 460004 passing Clapham Junction bound for London Victoria on 20th June 2008. I hope DTG will consider this as the Class 460 is a fan favourite amongst enthusiasts.
To be honest, I think the London Victoria to Brighton route should be rebuilt from scratch, because most of the scenery is wrong, but a class 460 would be very nice and provide a different experience on the Gatwick Express services.
