Okay having done another topic for the CN Heritage liveries. I am doing a new topic on a standard GE Tier 4 GEVO Pack for DTG to consider as a locomotive pack add-on for Train Simulator Classic. From my understanding, there are at least two bodyshell types that the Tier 4 GEVO's have on the production locomotives. There is the straight exhaust and the angled exhaust models with the latter coming post-2017 from my knowledge I have to hand. The operators that use these locomotives are: BNSF Straight Exhaust: Angled Exhaust: Union Pacific Straight Exhaust: Angled Exhaust: Norfolk Southern Angled Exhaust: As far as I am aware. Norfolk Southern do not have any versions of the GE Tier 4 with the straight exhaust in their fleet. Only the angled exhaust version. CSX Straight Exhaust: Angled Exhaust: Canadian National: Straight Exhaust: Angled Exhaust: The pack would include 2 versions for all operators except Norfolk Southern. As for the scenarios. The routes that could be utilised for included scenarios for this pack could be the Arizona Divide, Marias Pass, Surfliner for the BNSF locomotives. Sherman Hill and the Tehachapi Pass for the UP locomotives. Horseshoe Curve and Penn Coal for Norfolk Southern. CSX Hannover and Miami West Palm Beach as well as the New York routes for the CSX liveries. The Canadian National liveries could be used on the Canadian routes depending on the decisions from DTG of what routes they choose. For the pack, there is more viability if the scenarios covered the BNSF and the Union Pacific models whilst the others could be used on the Steam Workshop user created scenarios. There is a lot of potential with the pack than the previous one I mentioned hence why I am covering this in an all new topic. Feel free to post your thoughts on this standard pack proposal of the modern day GE Tier 4 GEVO's as a pack that you would like to see DTG add to the Steam Store.
Also and assuming that DTG has a licence to use the brand name. KCS also have these locomotives as well in their fleet. Anyone else have suggestions for routes that scenarios could be used with the proposed pack? Would routes would like to see DTG cover in the included scenarios? I am sure DTG are listening to feedback on the proposed pack.
I would argue it should be like the old packs, sporting a livery for all major railroads. The most recent one like that was the GP40 pack. Difficult to answer the routes. If we get BNSF, UP, NS, CSX, CP and CN, that's already quite a range. These can be combined into groups of two, but as usual, scenarios might feel a bit more of the same (after ES44AC). I agree it would be nice to see some liveries not yet seen in TSC, such as KCS or some Class 2 railroads. An alternative is to add marketplace liveries for like 2€ each, with a complete your collection pack (like how CSX was added later, or the SP Bloody Nose F7). One thing with scenario packs is that people always fail to read what they require, so I'd rather sell the packs at a higher price and have a few respected authors from the workshop be ready with their scenarios. Nothing against installing them with the game anyway, like I have scenarios for routes I don't own. Yet again, 4-8 routes required could sound awkward from a marketing perspective. (Pick roughly half of Surfliner, Cajon, Tehachapi, Granger, NY-NH, NY-Philly, Miami, Horseshoe, NS-CSX recents, Mountain Passes, CN routes.)
I, for instance need variety in train consist, it looks so much better. DTG allready proved it can work with upgraded SMH (they added AC4400). This (picture ) is the train I got randomly in timesable service (I know liveries are inaccurate but Im not extrimist
Are you in the context of Train Sim Classic (RailWorks) or Train Sim World? Or just an example shot? The proposal makes sense for both games, just asking for clarity.
Personally I would like to see this come for both games. Especially TSC as there is more applicable routes available.
