Geml Class 360-how Popular Is It?

Discussion in 'TSW General Discussion' started by SD40Australia, Feb 20, 2024.

  1. How popular is the Class 360? I remember it from the GEML Ipswich DLC from Train Simulator Classic.

If it isn't in your top 3 EMUs in your TSW wishlist, please tell us what is!

    Thanks!

I think I had my fill of the blue Class 360's from driving them a lot on TSC where they originally formed the only traffic on the GEML! Personally I'd like to drive a Class 321 in the Greater Anglia livery of around 2020-21. If this was added along with Liverpool Street then the Overground 710's could add a layer at the station. Maybe then the GA Class 720 could be added as well for the same time period. The 710 and 720 are pretty similar so should be easy enough to adapt.

been said countless times the GEML wont be appearing any time soon. Matt wants it in the sim but license is a problem.

What the GA license? TFL is sorted, Good old mayor of London has given out numerous licenses; Underground and Overground.

There is more to it than that. Do you not think if it was that easy we would have this route either in sim or development giving it is on Matt actually wants in sim.

We don't need Greater Anglia for the GEML to appear.

There was a time period before they took over.

And again dont you think if it was easy to do we would have it giving Matt wants that route in sim. Its not just a case of going "oh we cant get a license for this period so we will do it in this era" it dont work like that.

I would settle for BR era with Class 308's. Class 309's and Class 47 hauled long distance services.

Did I say it was easy? No, I didn't.

All I said was we don't need to stick to the current era.

    My top 3 EMU's?

    1. Class 304
    2. Class 310
    3. Class 442 Wessex

Special mention to Rod Hull, because his Emu will always be the greatest.

I am not a particularly large fan of the Desiros, full stop.

    308s, 309s and 47s, however...

Oh yes! Strangely I only ever travelled on a 309 once, in the late 70’s bought a priv return from Northampton to Clacton. Superb units, effectively the electric equivalent of the Inter City DMU’s. Always thought they would have been ideal for the Euston to Birmingham semi fasts, though these days even the 310’s are looked back on with fond memories.

IMHO Buffet / Griddle car gold would be achieved by having a CL309 for the Southerners, a CL124 Trans-Pennine (6 car) unit for the Northerners with our Scottish friends having their BSOTs. All sounds good to me :)

For some reason, I think it was one summer between 1994-1996, Class 309s and 312s (some in NSE livery) suddenly started appearing around Wolverhampton station.... Possibly Manchester-Birmingham service, or at least, from somewhere up North.

I had never even seen a 309 or 312 before, and the only other place you'd see NSE livery in the West Midlands was on the Class 321s running out of Birmingham New Street.

So yeah, memory stuck with me and they seemed like nice units.... I just have no idea what they were doing around here.

Greater Anglia also had a few 86s (albeit a bit later) which they used IIRC? Having something like that (or the 87 or even the 73) would be a tonne of fun to drive I'd think!! Wouldn't mind seeing it set in the Anglia times...

  20. Current operator?
But was the operator different 11 years ago in 2013?

It's had several operators since privatisation happened.

Abellio owned them last if I'm not mistaken, before that National Express.

It was but still requires a license for branding. You cannot just use branding from something 11 years ago without a license

There were four (I think) regional railway liveried class 312 sets in the mid 90's, I think they were used on New Street to Liverpool services, or it might have been Manchester. I also recall travelling on a class 310 or 312 from Wolverhampton to New Street in the mid 90's, although its livery escapes me.

Thanks for the info. That's fantastic!

Glad somebody else remembers them, and that I'm not going completely crazy just yet. :D

AFAIR there was a small fleet of 312’s in the West Midlands to supplement the 310’s until displaced by the 321’s.
