This Section of the Great Eastern Mainline spans for 47miles and links the two counties of Norfolk and Suffolk. With the picturesque countryside of East Anglia in between the City of Norwich which is home of the UEA to Ipswich, the County Town of Suffolk. The Route would be best set in 2020 with the pre pandemic timetable where the London Norwich services were every 30mins, hourly services between Ipswich and Cambridge along with the 2hrly services between Ipswich and Peterborough (which you could drive as far as Stowmarket) meaning plenty of services to drive for anyone who loves Passenger services. And the Class 66 from GWE could layer on for Container Freight services

The trains used of this Route would be the Class 745 for Intercity Services between Norwich and Ipswich and the Class 755 for Regional services (which could layer in as AI in Norwich for services to Great Yarmouth, Lowestoft, Cambridge, Sheringham and Cromer)

I hope you enjoyed my suggestion, what are your thoughts on it? Be sure to let me know :)

Brilliant route but should be set when the expresses were still loco hauled as MUs can get repetitive, boring and have no character.

Excellent idea why not make Classes 86 and 90 as your freight locomotives.
One of these can be technical difficulties type scenario on class 755 Dual mode to which a Pantograph failure has occurred and you must continue with diesel to Norwich .

I’m pretty sure that the 755s don’t run all the way to Norwich unless it’s an ECS to Crown Point Depot. But in terms of freight I would love a Class 90 as it is my favourite locomotive

I do agree that the 90 sets were amazing, ideally I would like it to be set in the era when the 745s were being introduced so we could have the Class 90 sets as well, but I realise that isn’t exactly possible unless a separate timetable is introduced

If you drive the route 100 times in a 47 it's just as repetitive so unless there's multiple traction options (never going to happen) it will be much the same

But in locomotives you get a better sense of power though.

    That's a preference and opinion...

A class 47 loco typically had 2580bph after having to be derated.
The Class 745 is rated at 7000 horsepower, so almost three times as much
Just because you're not sat in front of the engine doesn't mean you don't have as much power.

My point is with the engine being right behind you in a locomotive the sound help to give a sense of power. I never said that locomotives were more powerful.

AS I said that's your preference,
to add to that you may have needed "and therefore not necessarily true for everyone"

Certainly I don't need to have another class 47 route in game just yet. Plenty of places to use obsolete rubbish

OK I know it's my preference I just didn't know if you understood what my preference was which is why I reiterated what I meant by sense of power. I never said you had to prefer locomotives.
Also there is nothing wrong with a good old 47.

Unfortunately not true, which is why the 37s outlasted them.

Both 37s and 47s are good and are both still doing well running on the mainline today so neither one of them have outlasted the other yet.

Loco haulage is far more interesting both IRL and the simulation. We already have an abundance of overpowered/overbraked modern units with the Electrostars on the UK third rail routes and the various red electric karts on the German routes. About the best you can say about the new traction is that they get the job done, packing people onto ironing board seats in a sterile fluorescent lit air conditioned tube, but there is no entertainment or challenge in driving them.
