Hello there Dovetail Members, I would like to share my thoughts on adding the Generation 2 377s, (377/6, /7) I do believe they should be added apart of the WCML leaks as per Train Sim World 5, which also the electrostars run on. I think it would be a great idea for the Gen 2s to get added. Let me hear your thoughts on this one! Cheers
To be honest for the short section they would run on the WCML it would not be worth developing a separate sub class of 377s. I think as a compromise DT should substitute a debranded Class 387 for these services. I'd be happy with that anyway...
The 377s barely run on the WCML anymore, up to Watford with some services to Tring I believe. I don't think it's worth making it just for that purpose, even if it would just be a conversion of the existing 387. Had DTG made a 377/2 earlier it would have made sense to add it though.
Southern operate a daily service between East Croydon and Watford Junction only, the timetable change has affected; services no longer run to Hemel Hempstead or any further than Watford. It’s pretty much a 387 which they could convert into a 377 with an extra coach, would be okay to add it for Epsom - Victoria services as well.
The 387 and 377/6 and /7 body profiles are near identical as far as I'm aware. It'll do the job just fine...
Chances are if they are doing WCML South, they might do a pre May 2022 timetable so that the Class 377 services could still be playable to Milton Keynes for a decent run.
You first. Your only thought is they should be added and it's a great idea. Why is it a great idea? Do you have anything more substantial than that. On a related note, I think it would be great idea if they added the Dutch railways to TSW. I may even buy it.
A lot of forum members have clearly stated they don't want plastic trains anymore. So not sure if it stands a chance of getting added
It doesn't, but because there is already a Class 377 in the game and little reason at the moment to add the later variants. As for the 'plastic' criticism, they seem to sell the best which is why DTG focus on them. Not much can be done about that.
They could add a small extention to Shepherds Bush, which would make the run to Watford 31 mins, as opposed to just 13 mins from Wembley Central.
I mean technically speaking of the 375s / 377s the would be more 3rd Gen with Class 357 - Probably could be counted as "1st" Class 375/3, 375/6, 375/7, 377/1, 377/3 - All being the 1st Gen Class 376 / 378 in here somewhere? Class 375/8, 375/9, 377/2, 377/4, 377/5 - All being the 2nd Gen Then Class 379, Class 377/6, 377/7, and 387 All being the 3rd Gen I mean the 377/6 or /7 to be fair could probably be made from the 387s already out there (not saying that should be the way and of course this is personal opinion - but those would be the most similar - and there is probably already a reskin on Creators Club. Edit - Creators Club - Southern 377/7 Variant (Detailed)(Made By SR (dovetailgames.com) (reskin of 387)
A lot of forum members make a lot of demands. Doesn't mean people actually listen. And what are Dutch trains made out of these days, Edam cheese?
I'm all for more Electrostars. With a fully functioning MITRAC display, simulated door isolation, and the switchboard behind the driver's head, Perhaps we can get an expert mode as well!
For the limited service distance they'll undertake (Wembley to Watford), I'd much rather just have the GX387 layered on and the development time instead spent building something with wider applicability.
now hold up let them cook. If the next gen 377s can be made this can also be used on the BML to replace the /4s running the East Croydon to Milton Keynes. As much as how it isnt realistic because i dont think the /7 ever have reached milton before. But at least its closer to realism how it should be a dual voltage train running the east croydon to milton/watford services instead of a 3rd rail train pretending to run on it. Also (ig depending what section of WCML is gonna be included) can be used to run from where they switch powers from 3rd rail to AC overhead wires all the way up to watford if needed. thats basically 2 things hit with one stone. Also can just reskin the 387 and add an additional coach. Plus some services can use the /7 (or /6 too if in a situation where DTG would make both) and replicate them in the BML route.
Well it's come as a complete surprise... But DT have actually made a 377/2 for the WCML. I did not see that coming!
Well I assume it will be the same as the other Electrostars, which have left a sour taste, even though it will be on the juice wires.
/2s are pretty much the same as a /1 just with dual voltage capabilities. Compared to the /4 the most obvious difference is the lack of partition doors for the first class section on each end of the carriage (This lack of partition doors also applies to the /3 too). only /4 and /5 have those partition doors.
