Hi, so was just testing out conductor mode on PC, and i have a few thoughts about it. First of all, amazing addition to the game, i love it a lot. However, the overuse of tasks needed for progression can be a little annoying. Currently the conditions needed to proceed to the next station on the Class 350 are: 1. Unlock door controls (fine, but does it need to be a task every time..?) 2. Unlock the guard door (why does it need to be opened if it gets opened anyway in the next task?) 3. Open the passenger doors (sure, thats needed) 4. Lock passenger doors (yeah, sure) 5. Lock the door controls (again, does it need to be a task?) 6. Press the buzzer (i get how this might be needed game-system wise to tell the AI to drive) So we have 6 tasks when we realistically need 2, open and close doors. This leads to hearing the "task done" sound way too many times, and also can be clunky if you for example open the doors before the guard door, where you get the same result but can't progress until you do it in the exact order the game tells you to. the conditions should be as follows: are doors open? if yes, proceed are doors closed? if yes, proceed (unless you need to use buzzer or radio..) Another thing to add, you should be able to control the doors from the opposite cab. this would be implemented if the win conditions were just "are doors open (yes/no)" and the worst of all, this is the easiest door operation so far (looking at you, san bernardino line...) and the DB door controls arent even functional because you dont really do anything, this isnt really a valid argument however, because im assuming its true to life. Anyways, overall TSW5 is a great game, just some nitpicking
In the real world in the UK, the guard unlocks the controls and then opens his door only (local door). They will then check the platform and train doors to ensure it is safe to release the rest of the doors. Once boarding/unloading is complete, the guard will close all passenger doors except the one where they are standing. Once again they check the platform and doors are clear. Only then will they close the local door and once locked will give the right away 2 buzzes to the driver. The tasks you are given within TSW are accurate and also give you points for completion.
Thanks for the reply, seems like this adds up to quite a lot of time over a route with checking platforms and stuff... I still feel that the tasks could be removed, and this additional addition of realism could still be done without the tasks.
I thought you could turn off the tutorial mode thing in settings for guard mode. I don't have TSW5 yet, so I don't know, but that is what was said on stream. The controls in the rear cab aren't officially meant to be used, but it is 'on the list of things to be looked at'. EDIT: I was right: 12:37 to 14:40 you will only see instructions to open doors, close doors, then signal the driver (I'm guessing this objective is necessary to actually trigger the AI to start moving). The first couple of stations will walk you through the controls, then leave you to it, but as I said before, you can disable this entirely by going into settings.
