I decided to try and get my head around the afb pzb lzb on German routes. So I did the training module that explains the basics. Followed the instructions and the train pretty much drive itself to the end of the module.

Tried a service mode run on the same route, in the same train, set everything up the same yet now the train doesn't do anything it did in the training module, afb don't work and I was travelling at 30kmh in a 40kmh zone and get a emergency brake application for no reason at all?

And when I try freight runs with all safety systems off the train is restricted speed.

    What am I missing?

    Edit.
I pressed pzb acknowledge when passing the signals but still get emergency brake application.

When you start driveling you’re in PZB monitoring, if you go above 45kph you will be stopped. If you have to acknowledge PZB (depending on what mode you’re in) there is a certain amount of time you have to get down to either 85, 70 or 55 before you’re stopped.

Also what train is AFB not working in? It’s slightly different in the ICEs & Vectron

That is what it did in the training module. I could see the timer bar moving down for me to slow down but afb was working and the train slowed down automatically.

In service mode its the same with the timer but I'm already traveling below the speed and get stopped.

I've tried in the ice, 143, vectron, 187 and some others.

I didn't know there's systems work differently in different trains.

I'm interested mainly in freight. I looked at some guides and read about the different speed settings but I am completely new to all this!

Is there a beginners guide somewhere?

    Thanks.

Personally, I've found if you go to steam and download one of the (many) manuals for a TSC German route or train, you get a very good overview of how to use PZB/LZB.

Looking at the guide and matts video I think I know the basics. We will see when I'm home later.
Still need to work out freight procedures though. I will take a look on steam. Thanks.

I advise you to separate the topics (first study the signals, then the afb, then the pzb and finally the lzb). Exclude the Sifa during the study of the pzb as it is a useless distraction.

Also tackle the 3 pzb modes separately and, the first few times, always stay well under the maximum speed limits so as to have more time to see the signals you encounter (drive slowly).

Finally, the tutorials help a lot. I started from the Ruhr Sieg Nord following a Youtube video and trying to drive in the same way shown in the video.

For example, this is on the RSN and the pzb in U or 55 mode (heavy goods) and I'm linking it to you because it is really well done.

Look for other similar ones to study the M/70 and O/85 modes.

Thanks. Yeah I have been learning the hard way. The safety systems are fairly simple when you know how they work.
Just gotta learn the routes, I have realised that when It says to slow down to 70km. A heavy freight train, In reality I should half that.
