This line goes from Hannover Hbf via Göttingen to Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe over the High-Speedline. It also gives another service option to Hildesheim Hbf. The length of the Schnellfahrtstrecke / High-speed line is 144,4 km (89,7 miles). The diversion from Hannover to Hildesheim is 23 km (14,3 miles). The curve from Göttingen to Hildesheim is 3,2 km (2 miles). In total 170,6 km (106 miles). It has the following stations: - Hannover Hbf (ICE) - Hannover-Bismarckstraße - Hannover-Messe/Laatzen - Rethen(Leine) - Sarstedt - Barnten - Emmerke - Hildesheim Hbf (ICE divertion) - Göttingen (ICE) - Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe (ICE) The route from Hannover Hbf to Hildesheim Hbf is served by the RE10 from Erixx and the S4 from Transdev. The RE10 only has a between-stop in Sarstedt and the travel time is 25 minutes; the S4 only need 5 minutes more. The route from Hannover Hbf to Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe and from Hildesheim Hbf to Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe is served by the BR 401 (ICE 1) and BR 412 (ICE 4). The travel time from Hannover to Kassel is 89 minutes. The travel time from Hildesheim to Kassel is 76 minutes. The needed trains are: - The BR 622 (Lint 54) from Erixx. Because it drives once an hour, a repaint of the BR 642 (Desiro DMU) can be used too. - A repaint of the BR 425 in Hannover S-Bahn style ... or we need the BR 3427 (Flirt 3XL) - The BR 401 (ICE 1) - Please let it be a reason to build the BR 412 (ICE 4) (https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/ice-4-br-412.70088/) - ...and freight trains for the nights. While I saw that a lot of you want a long route for high speed and the part from Würzburg Hbf to Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe is already built, it should be a logical route to create. It will be the longest route in TSW so far, but it only has Hannover and the villages south, Hildesheim, Göttingen and the already-built Kassel as difficult parts. Perhaps it can be built for TSW5. Im all for any high speed route in germany. Plus this completes the whole line from Hannover to Wurzburg which would be great!
It's a good idea, but I sadly think it's too long. Kassel-Würzburg was as long as this suggestion because it had lot's of tunnels, which are easy to built. The section between Kassel and Göttingen is almost completly in tunnels, but on the other side there are only two longer tunnel sections north of Göttingen. But if DTG were up to the challenge of making this and maybe even have a merger with KWG, this would be a blast for every high-speed fan. No need to pack these into the route. Transdev isn't able to run these trains, I'm rather suprised if I actually see one driving at all and if it's on time it's propably because DB staff is on strike again and the rails are free (Sarcasm off) The ICE 4 would be perfect for this route. It's rumored that the ICE 4 is already in development, as it can be seen in the newest trailer for TSW. More infos here: Spoiler Alert! | Dovetail Games Forums
dont take me wrong, I love me some highspeed, especially German stuff, BUT... I dont really want another LZB only or LZB+PZB and vice versa route... we need a route that has multiple switches between the two... like PZB, then jump onto some LZB section, again PZB,... I really like to do the transition between those as during that you need to pay attention to keep the train moving
I can't really think of a route in Germany, that has the transitions that often. There are lines like Hamburg-Hannover, where only the fast tracks have LZB in stations. And as a large amount of freight and passenger trains share the track, the freight trains have to let the passenger trains pass. When this happens, they switch to PZB, stop at a station, let the faster trains pass, get back on track and rejoin LZB. But having this also for passenger trains is rare, as they don't switch from classic to higher speed lines that often.
maybe some Austrian corridors? like Wien Hbf to St.Polten and further... up to Lainzer/Wienerwald tunnel it runs on PZB, then those tunnels have LZB or ETCS, and some sections further are also not completely high speed... but dunno either
If I'm correct München-Ingolstadt has many PZB-LZB switches. For normal traffic (Regional and Long distance) you run on PZB to right before Pasing( where the route diverges), then you have a LZB section for half the route. It then transitions into PZB and right before Ingolstadt you get into LZB again.
