Südbahn Route ÖBB 4024 + Vectron BR 193 AC - AC/DC This Loco seems like a piece of junk. The manual is not good. System Select (Ctrl+P) does not work. Main Switch Z does not work. The loco will not move. Is there something wrong with my keyboard and the mapping? Not impressed. Compared with AP and ChrisTrains - RSSLO seem like amateurs
Further playing with controls leads me to believe manual is garbage (Shift+P ) needs to be used to select power and that the traction system is flaky (have also read about this). Ended up purchasing the Advanced version. This seems to work however is not as robust as an AP loco. If you do things out of sequence it fails to error trap the process and can also be quite frustrating. Only way seems to be watch a YouTube video and replicate. May be the last time I purchase anything direct from RSSLO. Definitely not a quality product. Respectfully
I've got this too but have not driven it yet. Will have a look later. Just playing a Seebergbahn scenario, the loco works as intended.
It won't work for me so it must be Junk How many times have we heard this from lots of people? No. Shift and P is required to select the Country you are running the loco in - different country's mean different voltages. Then you use the Switch on the Desk to set the Main Breaker. The normal BR 193 must be one of the easiest locos to drive Check if Pantograph is Up - Check if Circuit Breaker is set - The Blue bar on the left shows the pantograph is up and power is in the wires Did you check you had released the brakes? - The yellow bars on the right show they are on in this picture Put the loco in to FWD - use Y key to set the AFB Open the power handle and the loco moves The normal version is for people who are used to DTG/AP trains. An AP loco lets you do things in the wrong order because a lot of people would complain it is not as easy as a DTG loco And a lot of AP Enhancements are based on DTG Locos/Units so they could not change those An Advanced European loco needs a lot more things doing to it compared with a DTG or AP loco You are not allowed to do things out of sequence as that is not realistic which is what people want from an Advanced Loco They also have different Keybinds to DTG standard so you have to get used to the different settings And the language on the display may not be yours because it is made for a different market. Starting up a CFR Diesel and the on screen signs, the info when you hold your mouse next to a button or switch is in Romanian so that needs working out.
The manual for the basic quotes Ctrl+P ( was my point). As a new user this manual leaves a lot to be desired. Main switch #5 is inoperable. When you actually find out Shift+P allows the power to be changed the image does not even change to show what has been selected. My failure was not appreciating that the Cruise Control needed to be moved forward. Some basic 'Set-Up' instructions would have helped in the manual for this. Instead I noted the black bold writing and started to mess with the power settings (which was not needed). Peter THANK YOU for the heads up on this! I ended up purchasing the Advanced unit and swapped out using Locoswap. Also going through the startup sequence on advanced if you turn on the master key before the display has fully booted up the display does not work. This seems to me to be not intuitive. Most systems require a master switch to be used before you do anything. In this case turning on the master switch disrupts the code in the graphics! Respectfully
With the basic 193/1293 the Pantograph raises and the and the Breaker sets by itself. When I used Ctrl+P it did change thru a number of different systems but then the Main Switch needs setting. I used the Main Switch on the desk instead of Z and that worked as the Panto Down button on the display went out. The Advanced version is a bit of a pain and I don't use it that much
Again Peter I really appreciate your experience with these Euro trains. I am most likely frustrated with the lack of documentation. I also recognize that the primary customer is not necessarily English speakers. I was pleasantly surprised with the documentation from ChrisTrains. I suspect due to the fact that they are supported by JustTrains they probably get more feedback regarding English speakers and documentations. Another day learning more about TSC!
Dont confuse Master Key with the Main Switch which connects the overhead high voltage current to the engine.
