Here's a thing. I need to stop passengers walking up and down my platforms. Why? Well, firstly, I'm regressing a route (Falmouth GWR) to a pre WW1 timeframe, and the figures are simply too modern (especially the females), and secondly, compared to highly realistic stock, they look pretty lame - the walk is not realistic, and they keep looking at their watches (wristwatches were available pre WW1, but were not commonplace). So how do I do it? I can find tuts on how to set density on creating a new platform, but can find nothing on modifying an existing one. First thing is, you can't just double click on the platform to bring up the flyout. You have to go UNDERNEATH the platform! Then, random clicking around will give you maybe one flyout for every dozen clicks - how do I find the right spot? And then what should the flyout box look like to stop all passengers from spawning? I set the density at the bottom to 00 - doesn't seem to work. Help would be much appreciated
You can not do anything about the way the figures in any route are animated - a big complaint But you could use the figures off a different route which might be more in keeping with what you want I don't think there are many pre WW1 routes in TS2021 though
If you have RW Enhancer basic you can turn off the animated figures in the game. Their shadows sometimes show up but its hardly noticeable from the cab.
I’m beginning to think the same, they are more annoying than not. Especially as there’s so little variety, and you see 2-3 on the same person on the same platform.
That sounds interesting. Where do I go to do that. Any tutorials on changing figures within the game?
Depends on how happy you are at editing the files within the game This explains it - down at the bottom https://drive.google.com/file/d/1iG5iKUqcw9p4UZ9f9Y4W2ADP0eTwksEC/view
I tend to view the "passengers", and, indeed, any trackside lifeforms in the same way as I look at Model Railways. I don't mind if they don't move, as long as they are true to life and realistic. The bizarre movements of the current stuff only accentuates, for me, the overall crapness of the RW figures. There are some amazing 3D scanned figures being produced now for finescale modelling. - perhaps these could be ported into the game?
The figures in TSW are not true to life and do move in strange ways I doubt if you could change the figures in TS2021 to something else - but I might be wrong
I've already scoped better quality low poly photo real people (3ds max models) and there is an abundance out there these days that fill the right licencing criteria to be used within TS. If nobody gets around to it before me, I'll do it eventually, just be great to see someone do something about it. If anyone fancies teaming up with me to sort the issue, drop me a PM.
I don't mean change the current figures. I'm happy to delete them completely, and then add individual non-moving "people", in the same way as other people/scenery items. like horses and carts and such. Have a look here: Finescale Figures – Modelu (modelu3d.co.uk) All of these are produced from full size 3D bodyscans of real people, so the 3D files already exist. Perhaps create some rwp files from them??
I'm happy to push them through 3DS Max and the blueprint editor, it could be the beginning of a passenger Enhancement Pack. The loco's look so good in TS as a general rule, then we have Minecraft passengers. Totally blows the immersion.
You can edit the platforms to remove people, and then use the editor to add scenery passengers, which are still from what I recall.
I think the animated passengers are a joke and the sim would be all the better for not having them Lol.
They are what they are, have you seen the passengers on tram sim? Much more realistic in that they get on and find a seat, but then again tram sim isn't over a decade old, and even they still look a little janky.
At least we don't have to worry about 4 rugby lads getting on your train at 9am and cracking open a case of Stella.
I’d always wondered if it would be possible (at the very least) to swop the rubbish kuju models for the more up-to-date ones. Some completely new ones would be even better. That also led me to wondering if it would be possible to enhance the Euro Loco and Asset pack. So where a scenario calls for a FGW HST for example, the asset pack points to the AP version. DTG could always just do the world a favour and drag those assets kicking and screaming into the present day (like a retextured pub!)
That is slightly confusing. If you have a Scenario that requires an AP version of the HST how would DTG doing some upgrades change that? Even if DTG had "drag(ed) those assets kicking and screaming into the present day" they would not cover all the repaints the scenario might require and which APs pack do. I have not looked at it but I believe the Class 43 pack from DTG was an attempt to bring a more up to date HST in to the game https://store.steampowered.com/app/...ss_43_High_Speed_Train_Remastered_Loco_AddOn/ But I believe it has some faults Peter
You’ve misunderstood Peter. Changing what is pointed to would be a community thing, in this instance passengers. It must be possible to simply replace the old Kuju passengers with the newer ones. That was my point. DTG bringing assets up to date would be them improving some of the very very dated assets that are contained in that pack. So re-textures and the like.
It is possible to change the passengers used on a route for something different but it would affect every scenario on that route. And that would be easy to do rather than waiting forever for DTG to do something See the document linked to in post #7 So you could use the older figures off the Woodhead line on a route to give an older look I gather there are a number of seated passengers on the IOW route - from the document
Hello Dunkrez, Do you know of a tutorial that teaches how to take an object textured with DDS and change the textures to RW materials without losing the mapping. I just get texture not found. Thanks.
I found a tutorial in the Railworks America Community Assets Pack. It was out of date but had enough to solve my problem.
