Scotrail Express Edinburgh - Glasgow, is another hopeless Rivet Games mess that will probably never be fixed, if their past record of abandoning routes is anything to go by. If there was another Glasgow to Edinburgh route in TSW, not made by Rivet Games ( and which the class 385s also ran on), maybe we could have a quality route between the two cities, that wasn't rushed and had a decent class 385. Maybe even a section of the WCML. How about Glasgow - Edinburgh via Carstairs?
The problem is, with much more Scottish content you'll find a similar scenario where people moan one area is being focused on to much (which is what happened with Southern Region routes). I don't mind it myself, as the more diversity of the rolling stock for a single region, the better for me. But I think it's only fair to give some other areas a go too, and possibly revisit any Scottish content at a later date.
The whole thing became pointless for me since nobody of the devs thought about merge fife circle with edinburgh glasgow. I guess the tsc based gameplay is still very much present in tsw (which is ok). But leaving out those chances to create a gigantic networkased experience is making me question why despite the now very big scotrail fleet TSW tries so hard to become Tsc. Thats my very own opinion, which leaves out the fact Rivet is still struggling to implement proper sounds after all this time. And their act to abandon dlcs after the hype is over, reflects very much their passion to their products. Well not with my money.... (anymore)
The Carstairs line is basically just Glasgow - Carstairs with the Argyle Line, a handful of services to Edinburgh and a few intercities from Carstairs to Edinburgh or Glasgow. If you want to go for another E2G route I would suggest the North Clyde Line through Helensburgh, although that would be a very big undertaking.
Ironically when I first heard of Scotrail Express Glasgow to Edinburgh I immediately mistook it for the ECML - WCML link via Carstairs
I honestly wouldnt mind this, I would prefer to go from Edinburgh to Glasgow Central rather than into Queen Street.
There would be plenty to do with InterCity stuff. The LNER services to Glasgow Central will soon be history, but if a Pendolino is on the way we could drive it between Waverley and Glasgow Central. We’d also get to drive the nice Class 380 on the Glasgow Central / Ayr to North Berwick services between driver changeover points, and there’s freight opportunities too. I think to make things really interesting the Shotts line should be included too. I echo that we definitely are better off without Rivet when it comes to Scottish routes, and it is sad that they’ve claimed two already then just decided to leave them broken.
Pendolino services would only be ECS moves between Glasgow/Edinburgh and Polmadie, passenger services would be AI only. Though we would have a few LNER services
