I'm having trouble getting up to 80mph on the Gospel Oak to Barking Riverside route as I need to get up to 80mph to unlock the Tier 1 Mastery. Is there anywhere where I can reach 80mph on that route?
I just went as fast as possible out of Barking Riverside - the ramp where it meets the main line helped.
yeah I really dislike that breaking the speed limit by 20 miles per hour is a requirement for the mastery. but racing downhill out of barking riverside is the best way to do it.
I spawned an SD40 at Gospel Oak, made a path for it and maxed out the throttle. I got to 80 very quickly. Mastery unlocked.
Yes it’s a quite ludicrous achievement to have to get, when you consider the “good relations with train companies” that DTG espouse. (Don’t email WMR about branding, don’t make a fuss about LIRR safety systems always on etc. etc.). I did try it by spawning in an ICE but unfortunately didn’t leave enough headway from the previous unit so ended up sailing past a red signal at about 72 MPH. ISTR Cathcart also had a similar stupid mastery requirement. Probably conceived by the same “expert” who thinks drivers are cautioned about problems on the line by a text message from Emily Turner going, “Hi… “
I have done this, but it still hasn’t unlocked. Do you need to complete the service for it to register?
I did it on freeroam with no AI traffic, spawned a light loco and off I went, didn't take long to get to 80mph, mastery unlocked.
