I've been having alot of issues with the sound when driving the GP38-2 on SPG. The horn sounds really, really quiet from the external view and sometimes stops working altogether. The bell often sounds choppy with some of rings getting cut off. Worst of all some part of the engine noise gets really loud and stuttery sometimes. This can happen at high throttle settings but especially with high dynamic brake settings where it starts screeching like a jet engine or something. I find if I switch to a camera at the back of the train for a few seconds then go back to the front the sound will fix itself but sometimes not for very long. I recorded a video of the sound issue with the dynamic brake : As you can see the first time I try to fix it by changing views does not work, but the second time I wait a little longer at the rear of the train and it works, for a few seconds anyways. I assume this is not normal behaviour? Has anyone encountered it before and know of a fix? DW
This has happened to me before. I don't really mind it as I am used to it but I understand what you're saying
Thank you for the reply, I was starting to wonder if I was the only one. If it helps the devs I'm running Windows 10 with a Soundblaster Z sound card using the latest drivers. Initially I was using an older driver and updated it hoping it might fix this but the result was the same. Its unfortunate cause it really makes the GP38-2 unusable on services where you are going from Sand Patch down to Cumberland. I hope they'll look into it, the SD40-2 and AC4400 don't do this. DW
Personally I don’t really use the GP38–2 for those kind of services. I feel like that they don’t really have that much horsepower when going up and down the hills so I think they’re kind of better when they’re trailing in my opinion but that’s just me
True, but sometimes you have one behind you on some services and you can still hear that super loud noise from the front loco. The Cumberland Charge scenario is also kinda interesting where you use two GP38s. DW
