So, this was something I just saw posted over on the TSC Discord, was this message from a developer on Roblox (Railway Engineering Studios) about getting actual Tri-Rail branding....
    IMG_2894.jpg

The "key" part of this announcement was that apparently some other "Train Simulator" has an exclusive license deal with Tri-Rail already, which lasts till 2029....

Now granted, this could be true or not, but if it is, who else would that license go to?

-Trainz? They really haven't done much with their brand for US aside from the Xbox release, so I doubt it

-SimRail? Only US route in development over there is by Searchlight Simulations, but that's in Minnesota with Canadian Pacific/CPKC, so that's not it....

-Run8? They don't really do actual licensing AFAIK so they are out.

And I don't see anyone else on this list doing it except DTG and TSW......

Again, there really isn't much to go off here aside from a developer on Roblox saying they were in talks with Tri-Rail for licensing till they were informed someone else has an exclusive license deal in place, but if it is true, then maybe Tri-Rail and Miami-Palm Beach may make its way to TSW in the future (With at least CSX layers and maybe Amtrak...)

Isn't that just a fancy name for third rail

Long shot, but imagine if GTA VI has somehow secured its rights in a way of preventing a similarly parodied version of it being sued..

Short shot, pretty decent evidence to suggest it could be this game!

Matt has said in the past he had an idea for a Florida route, but said not to expect anything, but that was awhile ago.

So maybe not that far fetched at all.

Since it was on my TSW6 wishlist I would be happy.

It was about a year ago he said that.

Given the time it takes to make a route and those quotes, if DTG does have a Tri Rail license, I don't see it for this year, and it would most likely be a 2026 or 2027 route. (Especially if the exclusive license lasts till 2029)

That's pretty strong circumstantial evidence and it doesn't really seem like anyone else could fit that description besides DTG.

I think a TriRail route with CSX freight layers could absolutely be the US portion of TSW6. I don't think they can do Metrolink for a 3rd year straight without some major backlash, so the only other strong candidate would be another NEC section like NY-New Haven, or DC-Baltimore (please god no).

I'd be ok with the choice. It brings something new at least.

The strongest contender would be Run 8 but as others already mentioned, I too always garner the view they might play a bit fast and loose with the fine detail when it comes to licensing. However we know they have an extensive Florida network and that Version 4 of the game is cooking so not inconceivable they could use that to launch enhanced passenger ops along with the Tri Rail brand.

I’ve had a feeling this would be a future TSW route. It seems like a doable length, and would let DTG reuse some of their recent assets like the newer palm trees from San Bernardino, Rotem cars, etc.

Judging by the rather tedious bus stop Florida route in TSC, a similar route in TSW doesn't get my juices flowing. A route like that, say, Miami to West Palm Beach would look and play a lot like the Metrolink routes we already have.

And I agree that the Baltimore-Washington stretch would be even more sleep inducing, unless they got the MARC license and went out to Perryville or included another line, Camden or Brunswick perhaps.

Until they somehow wangle the Metra license, my dance card is done with US commuter.

I am hoping for either a Metro North route or another NJT route. Our 1st Metro North route for TSW was in early 2022 and our first NJT route for TSW was in early 2023

I made a proposal for this route a while ago so that's cool if true

If that was a year ago its plausible, Matt has said that DTG generally spend 3-4 months to make a route. And have multiple teams making multiple routes at a time.

So plenty of time since he said it.
