Here's a suggestion, I know Preserved routes aren't very popular but with only one being recreated so far, How about the Great Central Railway in Leicestershire? Runs for just over 8 miles from Loughborough Central to Leicester North, Speed limit is usually 25mph but what makes this route different is that it's also used for high speed testing for new rolling stock with a permitted speed of 75mph. Stations would be Loughborough Central, Quorn and Woodhouse, Rothley and Leicester North with the Engine sheds at Loughborough Central and Rothley. Rolling stock would be a mixture of Steam, Diesel and DMU. Class 45, 47, 20, 37, 33 and 101 DMU ported over with a few modifications. The class 25 could be a new build for the route with existing Steam Engines also ported over. Stations would be Loughborough Central
Bring it on and remember if you were watching Top Gear series 17 this was where they had Jaguar XJS TGV 12 Jeremy Clarkson vs the Audi S8 Caravan Train Richard Hammond and James May. However their Scum Class Carriage got destroyed by a Class 45.
I understand why people want preserved lines but even with the 75mph testing on this line you cannot perform full operations in a normal days service, the 25mph limit is a real pain too. You just keep having to brake all the time. I really like the loco ideas though. I have WSR and I thought I’d play it more as it’s quite local to, me but I really haven’t - I’d like to get the locos (especially the 33) out on the main line as a layer though!!!
