i did a bit of the ECML Now lets look at its Little bro the Great Eastern Mainline: Early 90s This route is is set Around the Early 90s, and sports 114.5 Miles between London Liverpool street and Norwich, I Also chose to include the about 18 Mile Sunshine Coast Line which adds up to about 132 Miles to drive along this route, this route Also would be a Big landmark in TSW2 As its the first route to include All the Sectorization Passenger Companies, and the Other 2 Sectorization Passenger Companies not yet Represented, Regional Rail and Intercity. Network Southeast covers the first half of the Line between London Liverpool St and Manningtree, although services for them would terminate at Ipswich, They also cover the Entirety of the Sunshine Coast Line, They Operated Both Local and Express services, REGIONAL RAIL Meanwhile covers the Other half from Ipswich to Norwich operating Local services, Intercity Operates General Long Distance train from Norwich, basically covering the whole line. The Locos and The Multiple Units: There are in total 3 Locos, I have chosen 1 Loco or EMU To represent each company, lets start with, BR Class 309 Clacton Express: The Class 309s are the EMUs to Represent Network South East, these units come in either 2/3 or 4 car sets with some set having Griddle cars, which explains there Gangway, the services these units can Operate are Express services from London Liverpool St to Clacton-on-Sea and Walton-on-the-Naze. They may come in NSE, NSE Jaffa Cake, and BR Blue & Grey. A Quick Fun Fact, when a Griddle car on a Class 309 unit broke a Class 123 Griddle car was modified to takes its place, and with that the Class 123s and 309s Look Striking Similar but were built by different companies for different Regions. BR Class 158: These are the Units I Selected to be Regional Rail's Units, Coming in 2/3 car Sets these units were a Massive Hit with the Public and continue to see use to this Day, These units were used All over Regional Rail's Network, Services for these units are Local services as stated above , Considering the Lack of DMUs in TSW This would make a Wonderful Addition to a route like this and i hope to see it if this route is Made. BR Class 86: These units are the Choice i made to Represent Intercity, coming to this line in the Mid 80s after Electrification was Complete these units Hauled regular Mixed traffic on this Line, these units were also fitted with TDM MU Control to allow use with MK2F DBSOs and DVTS, Nothing much else about these units, but they will represent Intercity nicely. Rollingstock: this is Related to Intercity as they used Loco hauled stuff. BR MK2E/F: The types im talking about are The TSO/FK/and DBSO in Intercity Swallow Livery, i wont go iover the TSO/FK But the DBSO is essentially a Cab Car, they were transferred to the GEML Around the early 90s for use on Intercity Express trains so drivers didnt have run the train around. Container Cars: In the Videos ive seen doing research the only freight i could find are Container trains, generally hauled by Intercity Locos they will be the Main Freight power on the Route, so if you wanna include freight there ya go just add container cars. Plausible Layering: NTP Could potentially give us the Class 40/45/ and 47, especially the 47, Mail and Newspaper trains with the MK1 BGs, and maybe some shunting with the 08, TVL May be able to give us more freight but idk if Coke, Coal, Cement, Limestone, and Cement trains would fit on this route, it could possibly also give us the 101 for NSE Local services but i dont know if it would fit, but most Certainly the Class 20/31/ and 37 for Freight. This Route can Possible give future NSE, Intercity, and Regional rail routes more EMUs/DMUs/ and locos in the future. End and thats about it Great Eastern Mainline back in the Early 90s has a lot of potential, im done here goodbye
Probably a bit long for TSW, especially considering the TS2021 GEML only goes to Ipwsich but you are speaking my language here. The Sunshine Coast alone could probably make a fantastic standalone route. In terms of the GEML I'd recommend the Class 312 as well. The 315 is a given for the Shenfield Shuttle and the 321s were in service by the late 90s so would be an excellent choice as well. All in all, I'd happily take anything from the GEML and its branches, the GEML is very much my home route. The 90s too are an especially interesting time for the route with the mixture of the First and Second Generation units. I the route was added, even just the Lo0ndon to Ipswich like in TS2021 I imagine it would very quickly become my most used route. Excellent suggestion! Edit: In terms of freight the major ones would be intermodal traffic to Felixstowe (the Felixstow branch is a must-have for the route imo) using Class 37s, 47s, 86s and 90s primarily. Aside from sand Sand Trains to and from Marks Tey using PIA Wagons were fairly common.
