I had a thought today about what routes would be good to introduce steam on. Then one route stuck out in my mind! The Severn Valley Railway! This route demonstrates perfectly how steam has stayed alive. Winding it’s way out of the busy Kidderminster suburbs, soon arriving at picturesque fields before meeting the fast flowing Severn river. With several stops and even a rail museum and maintenance yard, it has the perfect mix of old and new. Also, this line was recently featured in the film ‘Enola Holmes’ starring Henry cavill! Notable stations include Kidderminster, Bewdley and Bridgenorth!
