Route Great Western Express: Remastered - Feedback Thread

This is a reminder for players on PC - You might have installed mods that are likely incompatible with the remaster update. I recommend removing them before you post your issue here.

For example:

• Class 166 TOD4 patch: may no longer be needed. (!Laika-GWRClass166-Patches.pak)
• Modified Time of Day System for UK Routes: Will cause the route to stay in TOD3, just like when CCL remaster was released. Sign of this issue is usually extremely bright signals. (Aran-GWE-Time-of-Day-Update-v1.0.pak)
• Lighting & Visual Quality Enhancement: Route will not look good as intended. (Edit the per route config and override with another TOD4 route config)

 

External Horns on the Blue HST are very very quiet.

 

So far it looks great

Some bugs I noticed:

• PIS on the class 484 - if you change the station using the TrainFX Next Destination/Previous Destination buttons, it will display stations from the route in the cab, but stations from Isle of Wight on the outside of the train. For example, if the interior cab screen displays 'Earl's Court', the exterior screen displays 'Shanklin'
• The individual cars of the FGW class 166 don't work properly in formation designer, you can't couple anything to them

 

How silly of me to believe that with all the time gone into this remaster the blurry textures would be minimal. Instead, I’m getting them before I even reach Acton Main Line. Not good enough.

 

Passed this 166 in the countryside doing nothing.

 

Driving 1P26 towards Paddington, it looks like 1C09 in Platform 3 has an incorrectly placed stop marker, causing it to stop halfway into Paddington over the pointwork.

 

Anyone who thought there'd be no blurry textures in the remaster was setting themselves up for disappointment.

 

Even sillier of me to think I could save, quit and load back into that journey. Instead it just freezes when trying to load back in.

 

1A77 the 10:51 HST departure, impossible to complete due to all trains stopped beyond signal T512 at Slough.
Appears to be a set of points in a peculiar position?

 

Sorry to ask this but the 166 the green version does that share the same timetable as the blue example if I do a job with green will be marked has done with blue as well . Same for hst thanks. And sorry

 

The points appear visually to be set correctly, so for some reason the despatcher is seeing them set wrong?

 

Something goes very wrong at Paddington at 0940. It looks like a train departs but the signals don’t reset to danger afterwards, leading to a huge pileup of trains leading into and out of Paddington. Not even deleting the trains affects it, so the services are effectively softlocked.

 

How come no military on the freight schedule..

 

Driving a Hammersmith service in to Paddington, I noticed one of the HSTs on far side had a totally white power car.
It was 1B15 on Platform 3, Paddington to Swansea, departing 08:43.
The rest of the train was in GWR Green, just the front power car.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, I ran over to the platform to see if any other coaches were white and I noticed the PIS on platform wasn't showing the service at all.

 

Firstly, great work on the remaster. The lighting and scenery is brilliant.

Also experiencing issues with the pathing. Driving 1P26 Hereford to Paddington, I am stuck at a red signal prior to Acton Main Line, with a pile up of trains trying to head towards Reading along the same line.

 

Not sure about other units and HST but GSMR Doesn’t display headcodes correctly in 165/166.

 

I can't add the class 387 to the route in free roam as it says "doesn't fit in scenario"

 

I own the Class 47/4 BLU, Flying Scotsman, and Class 350/1, but I'm missing the timetables for these trains on PS4.

 

Core Issue. Noticed on Cathcart and B2C.

Update wouldn't install, Error code was a useless code (it literally was 'there was an error in the download').
I uninstalled GWE and then started an install and it seems to be going now

 

The rogue white power car popping up in a number of places, this time in the shed at OOC.

 

I don’t look a gift horse in the mouth... but on Xbox it became another blurry experience. DTG made this game not attractive on xbx even with sales.

 

The passenger behaviour on both bridges at Ealing Broadway is odd, they keep appearing through the sides of the staircase and also below it.

 

Class 165 service 2R11 from Paddington you can't leave Paddington because you are held at the red station starter signal SN21.
The signal never clears.
Contacting the signaller results in no response.

 

Ai 350s say not in service but dont know if they can out destination on .

 

Ps5 diesel legends service 5x03 stared from journey mode after the update you still spawn with the class 08 caught underneath the coaches causing a derailment and making journey mode impossible to complete this issue has been here since 2022 and was meant to have been being looked at back then and has never been fixed

 

GSMR in the 165 boots up and then locks up with no headcode

 

On Series S, I do not have the 350 and also not both the underground trains. The class 350 and 1972 stock are coming from WCML London Euston - Milton Keynes and the D stock from Island Line 2022, right? Both routes are installed but trains are not available in timetable and also not running as AI trains. Is this intended on Series S or a bug?

PC. Just ran the route to Reading and back in a Class 43 and there wasn't a single Class 802 to be seen anywhere despite appearing in the list of trains used? The Class 220 was at Reading, saw loads of Class 166's on slow lines, so the layering is working (maybe?). Overall visually the remaster looks and sounds great tho so well done to everyone involved.

 

I'm now driving the 350 as faked up 360. It feels the braking is off, it's too easy to stop from speed.

I like the passenger announcements I can hear at the stations, but they are wrong. The announcements should say Heathrow Airport Central or Heathrow Airport Terminal 4 as the destination, not just Heathrow Airport.

The extent of class 802 in route is a testing run in multiple parts.

Whilst operating 1B63 out of paddington there is a broken service en route.

 

Class 66 (all liveries)

Buckeyes are unfolded, but should be stowed when not in use. Air pipes too should be stowed.

Clean air compartment ( no. 1 end, the grille under exhaust silencer) the mesh etc is nicely done but what's behind is completely fictional. Should be a solid plate with holes for air flow behind the mesh, the internal equipment is not visible on the real loco.

Tail lamp switch should work on the cab the switch is in, not the far cab (except 66001 which is backwards!)

The amps in no way reflect a real 66. Pulling away from a stand they should register approximately 1000 amps per notch, with the amps falling back as speed is gained. In game notch 1 pulling away was around 2500A, so well over double what it should be. I believe this also affects the WCML DB 66, but can't confirm first hand.
Performance of the loco isn't bad, so clearly something between in game amps and performance isn't tallying correctly. (I drive 66s in real life so know their performance).

 

Paddington is still empty of passengers.

 

Also this service.

 

Service 1B63 HST out of Paddington, get as far as Langley, and just after the station the crossover appears broken, all trains are stopped.

At this point I consider the Timetable broken.

 

Xbox Series S

Just tried my first GWR 802 run on 1Z17 Reading to Paddington and you can definitely see the improvements compared to the previous version. Everything seems much brighter and there is lots more traffic, I lost count of the number of HSTs over the run and 3 more at Paddington on arrival. Very well done for this long awaited 2017 remaster. I also enjoyed raising the pantograph and switching to electric mode towards the end of the journey.

It's also worth mentioning I always use HD (not 4K) on the Xbox and always exit the game before restarting a new session. Not had any blurry textures since I adopted this approach and I've got a lot of routes.

 

I wish they had electrified to Reading and had the crossover around late 2018-early 2019 when the IETs were running alongside the HSTs and 387s were working alongside the DMUs. That would have been perfect for me.
Plus you could have faked up a 700 as a SWT/SWR 707 and have it as AI at Reading.

 

Did you remember to switch back to diesel at Paddington? That platform isn't electrified.

 

Looks good but there are still blurry textures,spoils the immersion somewhat.On xbox series X

 

Its there on the PC.
Make sure you have it checked, (Ticked) in the layers.

 

Passengers at Paddington don't move. None on the platforms.

Regarding Blurry textures and I know people are going to say you shouldnt have to and I totaly understand. But to help alliviate the Blurry textures think about turning off some layers. If you have the Mildmay line and WCMLS. Think about turning off the Mildmay layers and the Southern Class 377 (WCMLS) layers. These are the services thay you may or may not see going over the bridge East of North Pole depot (not the Old Oak common chord). It may help with the blurry textures.
