It would be nice if Great Western Express had an extension to Oxford as a lot of trains from Paddington don't terminate at Reading. a lot terminate at oxford and it would be great we were to see Didcot Parkway station in the game because when we get the spirit of steam route which is UK based, we can get some AI steam trains at Didcot Parkway as they have a steam railway centre that are events so I would really like the Great Western Express route to have an extension to Oxford. I understand it's a lot to work on but it would be nice that everyone would want this. Thanks

This could work but as I doubt they will add onto an existing route as they would more than likely be a price and that's where it gets all confusing...it's a good idea though...some pictures would be nice?

Since this is 52 miles, I could definitely see this happen if DTG ever do extensions in the future. It would be cool if DTG revisited this route, fully electrifying it, update the scenery to 2022 scenery, add the Class 800 and 387, and extend the route to Oxford in one major bundle. There would be the modern timetable with the IET and 387, and then a 2016 timetable, so you can still enjoy the GWE we know and love today.

Well sadly there not going to do it. Some people from the community and myself asked them if they could do it. Electrifying it will allow for more rolling stock if not we are stuck with HST and the 166. They are so against updating the scenery for a route it's ridiculous. In my opinion overtime a route gets boring and this one of the reasons why. They don't refresh the routes they make. Other games do it.

Just look at Rapid Transit since that route got refreshed with working LZB Time Table change from original 2017 to 2021 2022 timetable. Rapid Transit 2017 has no LZB but 2021 does have it

One of the most requested extensions on this forum, but so far deafening silence from DTG on the matter. Extension to Oxford plus the Thames Valley branches (including freight to Brentford and Colnbrook) would round the route out nicely.

I could maybe see it being done by a third party dev like Just Trains in the future. Unfortunately they've not released editors to the community because GWE electrification and extensions would be an ideal community project for those interested, but alas :'(

Updating GWE to modern day would also involve remodelling nearly all the stations since many have undergone accessibility upgrades and platform lengthening in preparation for Crossrail. Not a quick task.

Personally if they did update it, would rather a slight retro and take it back to before the wires started going up beyond Airport Junction. Give us Valenta engine HST's, etc.

I dont think we'll ever see it, the amount of work which would be involved would be similar to a brand new route (probably more so if you are expecting the original line fully electrified as well, And youve got to ask yourself which is going to have higher sales?
