One of the first routes in the game and I have suggested before, that it would be great if DTG could add the branch lines to it. One of the Branch Lines Maidenhead to Marlow is celebrating its 150th anniversary and it would be a great honour, if DTG added it. It’s about 10 miles and includes the stations of Furze Platt, Cookham, Bourne End and Marlow and like the new Glossop route where you change to the rear cab to move on, you have to do this to drive from Bourne End to Marlow. It would be really fabulous if we could have the GWE branch lines in the game as it would give a lot more services and game play to the route. Please DTG, bring them to the route.
Would be nice and frequently lobbied for but I get the feeling other than SEHS, because it’s in DTG’s back yard, you have to resign yourself that any route in the collection is “as is” and will not be extended or enhanced. Which is why I’m reluctant to buy the Glossop route, knowing there is no intention of making it part of a larger network. In addition to the Marlow branch, Henley, Windsor, Greenford and the Colnbrook and Brentford freight lines would round it out nicely.
Sad to hear Matt say on the RoadMap stream last night that this route will remain untouched. I feel it would have been a great little money earner for DTG with an extension pack and bring extra game play to a lovely route. Oh well it’s not to be, I can only dream of what might have been!!!
Totally agree, it's unfortunate to hear this but it is up to them at the end of the day. I would be willing to pay a fine sum for it to be extended to Didcot and Oxford. Hopefully one day another developer will recreate the GWML in more recent times even, just like JT did in TSC. But I can only dream...
It is important to note that the final decision rests with the development team. This applies to real estate as well (read more) They take many factors into account when deciding which routes to include in their simulations.
Well funny you should say this now, because it was touched and has disappeared from manys dlc lineup.Who would have thought it being so delicate. But now they at dtg have to fix it.find it restore it save it and return it to those who have lost it.
Thanks for noting that. At least we know where things stand and it's a shame a more formal sticky wasn't popped at the top of the Suggestions forum to deter the regular new threads that pop up asking for such. It is a crying shame though as the route is ripe for an overhaul and adding either the branches or pushing on to Oxford would have made it a Day One purchase for me. I guess it's possible as rumoured DTG have fallen out with GW and therefore no future licences or access will be granted for use of their trademarks, liveries etc. However in that case a perfect excuse to wind the clock back and set the route as it was pre 1994 in BR days, before privatisation and Railtrack/NR.
What on earth could they have fallen out with Worst over….i mean First. Perhaps GW didn’t like the potential that players could do what they couldn’t, run a train on time? Besides GW don’t own the rights to the route only it’s branding so simple to get rid of GW and push back to BR blue yellow and implement exec livery and extend the route!
I think the run from Reading to Bristol, or part of it, would be great. Make it modern day with 801s (if Hitachi can be talked round). Include the branch to at least Didcot if not Oxford.
