After 10 years, it’s finally been confirmed with a trailer being dropped in December https://www.rockstargames.com/newswire
Now begins the mass speculation and fake leaks until it releases and then onto speculation for GTA VII afterwards. In all seriousness hopefully will live up to expectations and more focus on the story mode and not throw every thing at the content for online.
Whatever it'll be called, it is going to be the next main GTA. The numbers don't actually mean anything anyway, since Vice City and San Andreas were main titles but didn't have numbers in the name.
GTA 5 was announced in 2011 and came out in 2013. The Heists update was announced in 2013 and came out in 2015. A two year wait is likely what we will have, and in the unlikely event the game is announced for 2024, the game will probably be delayed to 2025 anyway.
Let's hope that they don't mess up the trains again in the typical R* fashion. GP38 in GTAV with a GE-style control stand. One cutscene in RDR2 where they pull the Johnson bar to slam the brakes. ( That single scene made me avoid the game for a very long time )
The last GTA game that could be considered as a 'bridge' to cover the gap between main releases was Vice City Stories in 2007. There has not been a new game in the GTA series that is anything less than a main title since Chinatown Wars.
That will be the catalyst to get a new PC and goodbye train games for a couple of months! Though in truth I would be more excited about a new Elder Scrolls or Fallout game.
I know, but given how much Rockstar have been milking GTA5 there is a non-zero part of me that wouldn't be surprised if this was a bridge or spinoff (although that's basically what GTA Online was)
Finally! Although not an announcement yet though. I wish that Rockstar Games improved the gameplay experience to be able to do more miniactions in game, being able to access more buildings and maybe purchase some items for your hideout, not only given a new story at a new place. Detail things like that are important to me. I hope it doesn't get a big disappoinment. GTA Fans waited so long on this and probably until it gets released will take another year, maybe even more. We really deserve a good game after such a long time of waiting. Hope that story mode is more emphasized and offers more features than in GTA:V. And the story itself will be better again.
I still consider San Andreas to be the perfect videogame... and still have not finished it (too much cruising on the NRG-500 while listening to Radio X and K-DST ) You can literally feel the fun the devs had when making this game. Crazy how time passes, it's almost 20 years old now... -Give a homie somethin' to drink! -Not exactly premium liquor!
I also like GTA:SA the most of all. So many memories connected to it during my childhood and the music while driving! Played it through several times but for a long time stuck at the mission where you need to shoot the helicopters in the desert to get to the third map part. I also have a quote: "All you had to do is follow the damn train, CJ." Lol. I guess this is true not only for CJ, but all of us here in this forum.
I love that one. Although I never completed it either. Every time I try I just stop playing and then forget about it.
I lost entire months in GTA SA, it is one of those games once you pick it up you cannot break off to play anything else. R* created a work of sheer genius which has never really been bettered. Of course it had the silly and frustrating missions and moments which, due to the linear nature of the game, caused a bit of anxiety as to whether you could progress. For example quite early on the mission where you and Big Smoke have to chase the train and unalive the rival gang members on the roof with a strict time limit. Those daft bouncing car missions where you had to time keyboard or controller presses to the music. The one where you had to chase the drug dealers around San Fierro on a motorcycle and grab their packages. And the most frustrating of all, the one where you had to catch a Lear Jet with a Cessna. I could never do that without going into the vehicle data file and speeding up the propeller plane. Flight school itself was also quite hard. By contrast GTA IV was a dud and V was okay but I didn’t really like the playing as multiple characters part.
GTA 4 is the best GTA in my opinion, the story is amazing and the atmosphere is gritty. Followed by San Andreas
will 6 be a billion dollar franchise within a week? or has the gaming scene changed so much in 5 years?
Had its moments but after Vice City and SA it was a little too dark. Felt as if it should have been a spin off into a slightly different paradigm. V was back on form and I also liked the fact if there were main story missions you got stuck on, after a few retries the game prompted you to pass them by. As regards SA, would hope one day R* remaster it, better graphics and optimise to run on modern hardware and O/S. last time I tried playing it was a bit buggy with frequent CTD.
Actually I'm not that into remasters. Those old graphics left a bit more to your imagination and still work for me. That's just me of course. I even still enjoy the first Silent Hill on a PS1 emulator. The PS1 had no texture filtering, but for me the disturbing "trembling" of the textures and the fact that your brain makes up for stuff that's lo res, really makes the game more scary for me than a Hi Res Hi Poly remaster would do. And of course the sounds of that game... and the horror is what your brain adds to the visuals. This old PS1 (a mere 2MB exe plus a 200K dll) emulator is the best for me, as it renders the game 1:1 as it was (only adding optional Bilinear filter for a smoother TV style image) and doesn't need plugins. https://archive.org/details/pSXfin_1_13-1220
I would say GTA V is the best to date, I enjoyed IV but it was quite empty, money was very unneeded in that game I found. San Andreas and vice city are great, if not for they’re age they definitely be higher rated.
GTA: San Andreas also was one of the first games overall in 2003/4, in which the player was able to drive trains even if it didn't come close to a simulator (and at least for games who absolutely had nothing to do with trains per se). Plus it is still the only GTA game where the player is able to do so. I remember my 9 year old me feel so lucky to have trains not only as moveable assets in a game but also got the ability to drive it. Once I unlocked all three map parts, there was no holding back for me to use this feature and the railway loop over the entired map to its extent. Made me so lucky without to be able to know that I will get into a train simulator more deeper about 2 decades later. In fact, GTA: San Andreas could be seen as my first simplified train simulator. And the route in the GTA:SA map is not that short, at least it needs to be 6 or 7 kilometers in comparison to TSW and real life routes. Plus we had - I'm counting - 5 official stations on it. Can't remember the exact station names, but: 1. Los Santos Downtown station 2. Los Santos main (Unity) station 3. Las Venturas East 4. Las Venturas North 5. San Fierro Station And I added more imaginary stations like: 6. Los Santos freight depot 7. Groove Street Yard 8. Ballas Yard 9. Las Venturas West 10. Fort Carson Station 11. San Fierro airport Unfortunately, we couldn't use some branches to the ports in San Fierro and Los Santos. The complain of mine about the trains in GTS:V is that you can't drive trains like you could back in GTA:SA. It's a shame that Rockstar didn’t implement this feature for V. The route would have been very nice to drive. I don't know much about the railways in Miami, but I hope that one day Rockstar will bring this feature back to GTA. They also missed the opportunity to implement it in RDR2 with the good old steam locos IMHO.
There are mods that replace the trains with proper BNSF stock, and the tramway too. But the track layout is sort of cartoonish compared to the fidelity of the virtual world otherwise. Love to drive fancy cars using my wheels, shifter and pedals in the game
Yeah GTA SA is my favourite too, one of my favourite games ever. There is actually a re-master, they redid all those GTA 3 era games: GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas, but the remaster is terrible, you can probably pick it up cheaply now its called GTA The Trilogy. In the vernacular of the game though, the OG version is still the best. The soundtrack is amazing and even on the steam version there are a bunch of songs that have been omitted due to licencing.
I've only played Vice City and did the first couple of missions. Might pick up GTA V for my 360 soon.
Can’t wait to be the 5th of December and see YouTube crash like in 2011 when the first GTA V trailer came out.
Thank you for the information. Don't follow the Rockstar Newsletter regularly. But I 100% agree on the point you said. I also anticipate Twitter (X) being down. Also take a note that it says "Trailer 1". So, we'll likely see another one or two during the next months. And I think we already can see the palms as almost an confirmation for Vice City.
This is gonna be history for sure. We might have 2 or 3 trailers but I don’t expect a date on the first one. Vice City already been confirmed from the leaks of 2022, here’s a picture proving it:
Well the trailer has leaked early, so rockstar released the trailer early to counter it. it says GTA VI 2025 at the end if anyone is wondering.
Yep. Just watched it. Looks quite impressive. Some of the scenes looked almost real. A potential two years to wait yet though (assuming a December 2025 release).
environment and scenery definitely is looking stunning, hopefully find out more info soon, teaser trailers are pretty evil making you want more I was kinda hoping it would release by 2025, but I’ll wait noticed some big yachts and stuff as well sailing round, kinda seemed like a vehicle that can be driven, and other ones like the GTA online helicopter what I think begins with a V, I’m exited to say the least, I’ll have to forget it though for a while, 1-2 years ain’t going to go quick soon.
Quite obvious it won’t be on the 8th generation, just imagine, you launch the game on your PS4 and at the logo it explodes. This means more and more games will be exclusively for the current gen so they’ll deliver their full potential. I was quite surprised to see the trailer released earlier than expected. I’m hopping for a release around spring 2025 but I think it’s more like September. Normally we’ll have a DLC on December the 12th and another one next year to wait a little bit but I really want a good GTA IV remastered, this game is one of the best and underrated from the whole series.
No concerns for me as a series x player but it seems Rockstar have confirmed no PC release date (meaning maybe 2025, maybe not for that) and it will be a Gen 9 only launch.
Same no concerns for me… PC players are cursed with Rockstar, their version is almost always delayed, I expect it to be released even a year later
The PC Port of GTA IV especially, yes it was Great don't get me wrong, But the performance issues and the endless bugs and glitches are what killed it imo. And then they removed music and cut the online.... What were they thinking when they did that... At least GTA IV included a dedicated Subway System which was surprisingly VERY detailed and fun to ride on
GTA IV on PC ? That was a huge disaster, the most unstable GTA on PC they tried everything to optimize it but performance issues are still a thing, there was some great mods but I preferred to stay on PS3. The subway was actually great I agree, too bad they cut the ability to drive it, subway driver character can still be found on the files though.
So, here is the trailer (for everyone who hasn't seen it yet). FINALLY!!!! To be honest, I've already planned watching it when it comes out at 15:00 CET to see it live at the premiere, but they published it already at 01:00 CET (14 hours before) instead. Strange. Why did they do that? Maybe they wanted it to be premiered in the USA at evening and didn't planned so before? I think it was 7 pm in New York and 4 pm West coast time. I woke up today and looked to see how many people are waiting today (was more than 40.000 already yesterday evening), a few hours before and just noticed, it already has been released! But anyway, We got it now!!! A few things for me to think after watching the first trailer: 1. The trailer looks impressive. But don't get caught in a trap, guys, graphics and other things probably won't come close to the actual gameplay. I've rewatched the trailers for older GTAs and some trailer do not Match exactly or even come close to how I experienced the game thereafter. For example, look at the trailer for V and especially the NPC behavior. For some scenes this does not come close to the actual NPC behavior in the game (some actions they do even do not exist in the game and are only for the trailer, which I still miss 11 years later): From what I've seen by the September 2022 leaks so far is, that the gameplay after all actually comes very close to the one we have in V already. 2. "Coming in 2025" - Hopefully even then and they don't delay it any further. But I high probably guess console players can preorder it Xmas 2024. Also what about us PC Players? From a realistic point of view, I would say we can expect a PC version (if we're lucky at Xmas 2025 - maybe even before), but more likely to be in 2026. 3. Many people expected it being set in the 1980s era. I highly doubted that thought from the very beginning. And so is my confirmation now. The internet, mobile phone calls and SMS to missions and last but not least Social Media is just a way too important topic for GTA to leave it out. From what I can see we probably will get a huge new Social Media feature in it. By the way, I also do not expect an "era switch or swap" like in Driver: Parallel Lines, where you got in jail in 1976 and get out 30 years later in 2006 and thus play the game in two different eras. This would probably way too much work, even for Rockstar. For the exact same reason, we will never see "era swaps" in TSW. As an evidence for that, I would say Lucia is too young to be born and criminal in the 80s to be then released in the nowaday time era. This does not match for me. 4. Music: Tom Petty - Love is a Long Road -> Nothing depicts the waiting for this tiny video any better. 5. The trailer looks very very impressive. I only hope that Rockstar still optimizes the gameplay, features and the graphics to be like the one in the trailer. Please don't let it be a big disappointment, Rockstar!
