Repeating this suggestion so it becomes visible again. And to clarify, this post isn’t suggesting a guard mode player option, this is purely AI based. Also, I don’t know how this feature would work out side the Uk which is why I specified this post as Uk only. The problem: TSW has only over had DOO (driver only operation) which is fine in some trains but not for others, for example the Class 700 works fine as a DOO train because that how they’re operated, the immersion and accuracy to real life isn’t lost. But the same can’t be said for other trains, another example would be the Class 323, these trains are only ever operated with a guard present (driver guard operation) and in TSW it’s immersion breaking when you’re the one to operate the doors and I think it’s about time it starts being thought about again especially since we’re now entering the TSW 4 era. How Skyhook made a start: Skyhook has made a good work when it came to their 158 but it isn’t fully accurate. On the 158 you still manage the opening an closing of doors but the difference and improvement is in the presence of an AI guard that gives the all important ready to start signal. Although you could still drive the train without ever acknowledging the guard. The final version: How I see this feature working in game is the player still opening the doors to avoid potential problems of AI opening them when you don’t want to. But the main aim of this feature is to provide a more realistic driving experience even if it means the player has less responsibilities, similar to how a driver and a fireman would operate a steam train. Trains that would have this feature include: Class 150, 158, 166, 313, 314, 323, 375, 385, 465, 484, 801 and possibly loco hauled stock. Step by step: 1. Player: opens doors 2. AI: closes doors when dwell time is complete 3. AI: ready to start signal (2 buzzes) 4. Player: confirmation signal back to the guard (2 buzzes) objective complete, move on the the next station.
Good idea I but I think it’s a stretch when you think we don’t even get basics garunteed such as working gsm/r and player settable destination’s if memory serves me right last time we got train we could set destination blinds on was 387 or rivets 484
Of course a man and a whistle for the older routes as well. This is something which I think needs to be the next big thing in game.
May I ask how would it work with loco hauled stock like class 45 and mk1s etc. Would they just open and close the doors with no input from the driver. Also great suggestion and I hope it gets implemented.
Would an hst work in the list? The GWR ones definitely have pannels. But I'm not entirely sure how they work. Do the class 395's have pannels? Also, class 150 need for the pannels to work! Like, you can literally see them! But their 2D and not functional. Anyway. Good suggestion.
I wouldn't imagine any changes to them unless a feature was implemented to allow passengers to open doors themselves.
No changes to loco hauld stock or the hst as the passengers would open the doors themselves. As for the 395 they are DOO as far as I'm aware, they do have guard panels but then again most trains do, even the 700. 3d & working guard panels on the 150 is something Rivet need to fix then. But as I said in the og post this is something the AI would be using, not the player so it's slightly less important.
You could say that about any train really. HST still have conductor pannels for gaurd to unlock doors for passengers to open. Also, the HST has gaurds buzzer so it would actually fall under the same category. You could even animate the gaurd with their head leaning out the window until the whole train has cleared the platform. The Class 150 has a separate door for the gaurd and buzzers so that would fall under the category as we'd need buzzer going off when ready to depart and a gaurd at the door with the door opened when stopped.
Slam door stock in older time periods, including Mark III's as used on HST's and the WCML had no central locking of any kind and doors were opened and closed by passengers (or despatch staff and the Guard on completion of station duties). This should really be reflected in game by the driver having no responsibility for the station duties other than watching for the "Right Away" from the Guard - which could be via the buzzer on DMU/EMU stock, or a green flag (bardic lamp at night).
That’s only on the new ts ckassic route released today you can’t set destination on class 385 in tsw Edinburgh to Glasgow
No, its on the TSW one. The up and down arrows on the GSM-R will adjust the destination. It's how you get the Dunblane and Alloa destinations because the game won't sent them automatically. I wouldn't know about the TSC 385, I don't play TSC
I forgot about that with them. Absolutely criminal though. I had a follow on comment about GSM-R implementation and something about guards but accidentally deleted it and can't remember what I'd typed (it's been a long day!).
I'd rather we could have some GSM-R functionality than change the PIS personally. For me it is just a big no, no and a reminder why I can't do more than one run on what is actually overall a decent route. Anyhow off topic so I'll stop there.
Are we talking about the same passengers where a big group stand there motionless when you pull up to a station, and they all only rotate 90 degrees at the same time and move once you open the doors? Played last night and that's what I saw and even saw a stray passenger walk down the platform casually in the rain towards the barrier and just stop and stared at nothing. I would love to organise a group of people in real life to reenact the passengers of TSW and film it all on a platform.....it would look hilarious.
Would be also cool if they incorporate this feature as an update to older route and train DLCs, not just a feature of new trains coming to the game. I think of it as a core feature to the train, independent of the route. So once it works for one specific train, it should be possible everywhere the train can drive.
Yea! We need actual updates and not just, look at this shiny new DLC with these features!✨ (wich could easily have those features on older routes).
