Gaurds Duty I guarantee I'm not the first one to suggest this feature, however being able to guard a train would bring unbelievable amounts of new content to the game. Brief example of a few features being: - Checking Tickets. - Pressing the guards buzzer (2-2 being the main one) - Cleaning any rubbish left on the train. - A system sort of like how you can refill newspaper stands, and place route maps, but on a train. EG: fixing a broken door, placing a poster etc This would bring incredible amounts of immersion to TSW3 aswell as giving players different things to-do instead of only driving trains. Along with this, whilst being the driver of a train it would make the cab more alive and realistic by having a guard close your doors and buzz when safe to proceed. Personal Opinion I don't think this would be all that difficult to add to the game as it is only a few controls, and only a select few trains, and depending on how it would be released, could make a lot of revenue. No other Train Simulator has this feature so would be a unique selling point adding alot of traction to the game
the main counter arguement is... why? It would be nice, yes, but how many people would be lining up to do it? E-G, IOW and BCC all have some form of guard feature, and while it's nice, it's all just a novelity. bearing in mind i just completed a 387 GX service from London to Brighton, there was a total of 2 passengers on the service. (it was a 5am departure, but still)
The main reason why is it would create a whole new branch of life for the game. it wouldn’t JUST be about driving trains. Along with this a lot of people aspire to become guards/conductors. Furthermore, like stated previously it would be a unique trait that only TSW3 would have, so i do believe that quiet a few people would be exited and waiting for this update.
It could have its moments but without some sort of FPS/RPG element to the interaction with the passengers it’s not going to be much different to the bus sims where you issue tickets to boarding passengers.
You would need to be some sort of hardcore train fanatic to see a train go past and instead of thinking ‘I’d love to drive that’ you think ‘I’d love to pick up litter on that’
I would add the ability to place Wheelchair ramps (when appropriate), Open and Close Doors, Check Tickets, Fine Customers who don't have a ticket, Deal with rowdy passengers by calling BTP and kicking them off Guard Buzzer e.t.c although I must say unless multiplayer is added I can only see this being fun to do on Birmingham Cross City
