I went back to playing GWE last night for a variation- knowing it won't crash on me! Have they played with the 166 door system? On other trains with the slow closing doors the unloading time starts when you press the button, meaning you can cheat your time to catch up if running late etc. But with this train the unloading time doesn't start until the doors are unlocked, and then instantly ends when you close the door- so working against you? It takes 5-8 seconds for the doors to open? It's nothing major, but annoying? D
I believe it’s one of the perks of the old style set up of how DTG used to set their locos another one being how you don’t load passengers at the start of the service
Yeah, the 166 was one of the first units in the game, and this is one of it's quirks. Not sure if the timings in game take account of the 6-8 seconds required for you to close the doors before pulling away either. Sometimes the 166 timings are very tight between stations Obviously this COULD be fixed in the upcoming pres-crew sweep of GWE but I doubt it will because of that timetable implication
there was talk on the roadmap stream last Tuesday by Adam to do with how these era (old routes) of trains are being looked into regarding quirks like this but I’m not surely exactly what’s planned to change
When I go back to the 166 on GWE the whole minute wait (plus door opening and closing time) at every station seems so long and detracts from the otherwise fine experience of driving it, especially when those extra seconds make you late. If it could be improved without wrecking the timetable I would probably drive it more but I am looking forward to the other GWE improvements that are on the way.
The door issue on the 166 was raised by me when Adam asked for GWE feedback. Nothing was acknowledged so whether anything has been done about it, we’ll just have to wait and see. The 166 is no longer limited to GWE, either.
It was first British DMU in TSW. And appeared in first British DLC: GWE, which was the second TSW route ever.
