Specifically the PS5. For me I got stuck outside Twyford playing 6M49 as the 1H55 20:21 Oxford service pulls in to Twyford platform 4 at 20:12, way before it is due to leave and blocks the way. This train gets clearance into the platform from Henley at 20:10 so is impossible to get ahead of it. As it’s travelling towards Reading you are faced with a head to head scenario. Testing non existent as usual. And to add, with the exception of 4V15, all of my class 66 gold medals have now turned silver. The most amount of points I can get is 4,280. All the gold medal targets are now 4,350 or 4,400 except the service mentioned.
I tried the aggregates service and got the same head to head situation, also on PS5. I’m wondering now what happens when both trains are AI and if there is any difference and if it clogs up any other services.
Update to my last post. When the AI runs the service it works just fine although it is very tight. It is possible to do as a player but not if you set the train up before setting off and drive normally, details follow… I tried it again and just put the reverser into forward, released the brakes and gunned the throttle, red-lining the amps, then after getting going did all the setting of lights and AWS etc. and I just about managed to get close enough to Twyford before the Oxford service is cleared in to be cleared through first. I was rewarded with a very uneventful all-greens service to Acton as there is nothing else on the line ahead of you. This begs the question of the time this service is scheduled as it could have been started earlier to avoid the conflict at Twyford and maybe it could have got held up behind other trains on the line instead of being clear all the way to make it more interesting.
I have experienced that today and tried to impress the guys in the TSC Discord server to lower the medal score requirements only to be informed afterwards that I was on an inofficial server. I had to complain about it here in the forum. EDIT: A screenshot here for the proof.
I have had the same issue on PC. I have found an alternative to gunning it out of Reading, in my case I waited at Reading until 20:22 for the other train to depart and block out it's route. Drove around 55mph and completed successfully.
This really demonstrates how fragile the timetable is. No wonder they are afraid of modifying slightly train performance or stop timings... IMO this needs to be looked at, this is the root cause behind a lot of problems in TSW. We need to have different "same" locos because if one is modified it riska to break other timetables, if a loco doesn't perform realistically it's a huge nightmare changing performance, etc... First and foremost I agree with their short term focus of fixing the game which is far from an ideal state - but the fragility of the timetable and dispatcher should be a bigger talking point IMO, this is as bad (and actually kind of a similar problem) to the save game not working. Fixing this would be a breakthrough in the way Timetable, trains and loco DLC works. And this is without even mentioning the possibility of adding things like random events, random delays to force you to drive more aggressively, or slightly randomised train performance like IRL.
I've done 5 random Class 66 services on XSX, and I've got around 5,200 points every time. Looks like it's a weird PS only bug…
I think what’s happened is before the update, when starting the service the first objective was Reading or Acton Yard depending which way you are going. Now there are two additional ‘Go Via’ objectives, hence why you are able to get 5,000+ points. I just can’t be bothered to drive them all again tbh.
