Just saying: I'm fine with following clearly defined logical paths, but trial and error drives me batty very quickly. Those of you with the ability to keep hammering away blind at something as big and unwieldy as the Unreal editor and actually find the steps and make the chains needed to accomplish things have my ongoing admiration.
I know what you mean, but despite saying I would leave it be for now I can't help but take another look - and find more processes that confuse or befuddle my old brain. Simple stuff, as I posted in another thread, such as what are the key commands to move or rotate a highlighted object or set of objects. My biggest concern at the moment though, is having finally achieved two (sort of) parallel track sections 200m long and nothing else in the world, the laptop fans were screaming like an electric chair generator. So the whole enterprise might fold if my development hardware isn't up to the task.
Vern, it might help to disable features that are not really needed when editing. I've disabled Fog, Atmosphere and Bloom in the "Show" settings menu, and the blue Transparency things (always shaking my head seeing TSC editor screenshots with the distracting Audio domes enabled ). Also turning off AA might improve things for you. Your laptop is really suffering it seems
Yes it is pushing the limit of what it’s capable of. Really need to buy a better one but then I also need to change the main PC which is quite elderly. Won’t be able to convince “she who holds the purse strings” on the merits of both! However I’ll give those tips a try.
