The Metro North Harlem Line is fun but it feels very short which why an extension would be great. Mount Kisco is one of the stations (Crestwood, North White Plains, Mount Kisco, Southeast, Wassaic) where services end. Mount Kisco is only 13 miles from North White Plains unlike Southeast which is 29 miles away. Mount Kisco also has a higher population of around 10K instead of Southeast's around 2.5K making it a somewhat significant town along the Harlem Line. Extending to Mount Kisco which should be doable (due to it being not that far away) would allow for more services with more stations, 6 more in total (Valhalla, Mount Pleasant, Hawthorne, Pleasantville, Chappaqua, and Mount Kisco). Dovetail, please consider extending the Harlem Line from a short 24 miles to a respectable 37 miles (if 53 miles to Southeast is a bit too far as it's quite a distance away from North White Plains). Thanks for taking the time to read this post if you did. Links Map: https://new.mta.info/map/22461 Timetable: https://new.mta.info/document/124226
While I'm not against extending the Harlem, I only count 7 trains total originating and terminating at Mt. Kisco, and even then those crews are working out of Southeast and NWP. Honestly if they're going to make the effort to extend it they should go to Southeast and introduce P32s and Shoreliners into the game. That all said though, I'd really be surprised if DTG revisits the Harlem. I think at this point they'd be more likely to recreate the Hudson as far as Croton or the New Haven out to Stamford for future MTA DLC.
Yeah as long and big of an extension as possible would be cool but yeah I think an extension to Mount Kisco would be hopefully easier enough to be done and put the route distance more in line with other routes. Also, the fact that whole yard doesn't have to be modeled and it's mainly just the tracks, station, and scenery should also make it simpler. Also those 7 trains are still something and currently we still have the services that are meant to go farther (to Mount Kisco and Southeast) but they're just cut short at North White Plains so it certainly can be done at Mount Kisco too. Also with rumors about an LIRR upgrade maybe the Harlem Line can be upgraded too.
I too am curious to the logic here; nothing terminates or originates at Goldens Bridge, and at that point you're close enough to Brewster.
Good idea and if I were you go to Brewster North the 1983 name for Southeast station where it has a Yard for M3s and M7s
