Simple question really, has playing TSW 2 or the older editions before that, made you want to travel and see what the routes are like in real life? Feel free to add your trips whether just text or pics.

I've now travelled on a few of different routes featured in the game (pics below) including day trips to Germany in 2019 for Hauptstrecke München – Augsburg and Hauptstrecke Rhein-Ruhr, plus in the UK for ECW, BML etc.

Hauptstrecke München – Augsburg (Munich Hbf)

I've been on the Leipzig S-Bahn - but that was pre TSW. The S-Bahn looked like a quick way from Darkflower to the Kohlrabizirkus turned out to be a mistake as while MDR station was close to the Kohlrabi, we had to walk a fair way around the building to get to the entrance, so we stuck to the trams after that.

I’ve been on BML and the BKL line . I unfortunately haven’t been able to go on any trains for over a year due to COVID . I’ve still continued my passion for railways within tsw2 though

I've been on Northeast Corridor new brunswick to New York Penn Station in 2004. Currently present in train simulator world 2020 Newark Airport to New York Penn Station segment. In those times the electric multiple unit in my profile picture Arrow III do most of NJ Transit Northeast Corridor line commuter services Express and locals together with ALP-44 1988-1996 builds & ALP-46 4600-4628 2001-2002 builds Comet I-V coaches. That is predating 2012 present situation to which you have ALP-46A 4629-4664 2009-2012 builds and 4600-4628 2001-2002 build with 2006-present double-decker coaches together with Arrow IIIs

Wow those photos are great, on most I could tell where that is in the game and I’ve not been to them in real life. Manchester Victoria stn however was a place I used to work at in the early 90’s when I was with Regional Railways North West so I know it well although the current station looks a lot different now to how it was then and in the TSW era

I was hoping to visit the UK this September to see Tankfest at Bovington, it's a shame Covid got in the way :(

I hope I can get there next year, unless I become a very different person I am sure I would spend at least 1 day train spotting in London, maybe I'd even considering going up to Faversham if it's not too expensive

You got a Main Spessart Bahn Aschaffenburg-Gemünden DB BR146.2 unit BR146 270. If you compare it to your picture to the one in game it's going to be 1 to 1 except for the destination sign which doesn't display RE1 Hamm on Haputstrecke Rhein-Ruhr instead it's RE Hamm RB Essen or Bochum. The perfect one locomotive it's not thinking but if they make my The Austrian Westbahn Salzburg Wien the Black MRCE BR193 Vectron is a reskinned ÖBB 1293 173-200. Reason for it is that the MRCE BR193 has the Dutch ATB EG NG TBL Memor II Infrabel Belgium installed and the ÖBB1293 Vectron units 173-200 have those installed in addition to the standard German Austrian PZB Sifa LZB and ETCS. You should Dutch trains at Duisburg Hbf because it's the end point of Arnhem Oberhausen Duisburg Railway.

I also had an idea to visit a couple of places from the game, but the pandemic disrupted all my plans. But I was warmed by the thought that the whole world was in such a situation. I had to do domestic tourism. I tried not to get upset, and I managed to visit some cities that have long been on my travel list.
I've finally been to New York. I even managed to stay in a wonderful hotel with rather aesthetic architecture https://www.westgateresorts.com/hotels/new-york/midtown-manhattan/westgate-new-york-grand-central/ .
Therefore, do not be upset if any plans are interrupted. Maybe there are other opportunities around that are worth trying.

I’d like to see some of these places in real life , particularly the Arosalinie. However, generally it is the other way round. I have often purchased TSW (and TS) routes based on ones that I am familiar with in real life. Similar with railway videos (Video 125 etc).

Yeah I can totally understand, one of the reasons why I love TSW 2 too. I must say I only went around six months last year without going on a train due to COVID-19, but a really weird feeling when you do get back onboard, especially having to wear a face mask.

Ah very nice, sounds good and thanks for sharing. I've only been to Penn Station once, and that was ten years ago while on holiday/vacation in New York. Went on a trip to Hoboken, New Jersey - can't remember what line exactly unfortunately.

Cheers, yeah I think DTG have done a great job on the routes to replicate reality. I must say I found it weird going to somewhere I've not been, yet I recognise everything straight away after playing TSW quite a while. Sounds interesting, I'm not familiar with the modern Manchester Victoria but I could imagine how much has changed.

Thanks, yeah 100%, nice to compare between the game and reality, plus a thrill to see the trains and experience their sounds actually for real.

Thanks for the detailed info, I'm not an expert in German railways knowledge-wise, but enjoy the trains there. I travelled from Dusseldorf to Duisburg and back in 2019 just to get my first ride on a dosto - from memory I think they were high-entry examples.

I did get these. Regarding Dutch trains at Duisburg, can anyone confirm if either of these are?

Neither are as far as I can tell.
This is a Stadler Flirt 3 of Abellio-NRW (Nordrhein-Westfalen - North Rhine-Westphalia). Abellio is a dutch company, but this is a subsidiary company based in Germany. So, not a dutch train.
This is a Alstom Coradia LINT 41 by NordWestBahn (north west rail). Very much a German company with no link to the Netherlands.

This just goes to show that there's a lot more on German rails than TSW would have you believe. It's not all just traffic red :D

Ah thanks for the info, much appreciated. Always nice to know what I've seen. Haha yes that's true regarding more traffic than the DB red.

Hoboken to New York 34th Street-Herald Square is the PATH Train. High Floor Doppelstockwagen isn't in TSW 2 Hamburg-Lübeck due to Copy and Paste technique something common to North America routes in game

A few months ago, I was working in the San Jose area, I had a good amount of time off one day so I was doing some railfanning at Santa Clara Station, but then I had the idea, of why not just do a quick ride.

Now Caltrain has a ticket system that is based on zones, your price depends on how many zones you travel to. (Though regular riders I believe use the clipper system instead)

Since I was only doing a short ride, I decided to just stick to zone 4, and take a train from Santa Clara to San Jose.

1st train was a classic F40 pulling the old Gallery Cars.

    Collage Station
    [IMG]

The ride was pretty straightforward, no issues.

Had about 30 minutes till the next northbound train to Santa Clara departed so, walked around San Jose Diridon
    [IMG]

    Amtrak Capitol Corridor
    [IMG]

    Altamont Corridor Express
    [IMG]

So, after awhile finally boarded my train back to Santa Clara, which was an MP36PH-3C, with the Bombardier Bi-Levels (Cab Car leading) This part of the train was completely empty.

Made it to about CEMOF before the train came to a stop.

I was sitting not far from the door of the Cab car, overhearing the crew, the train stopped due to possible trespassing near Collage Park Station. (The engineer was not happy at all about the situation) So my train, an ACE train, and a UP local were all held around the CEMOF yard.

At that time, some crew in the CEMOF fired up a MP15DC, in order to inspect the line, to make sure it was clear.

Sure enough, everything was fine and all trains began to move again.

Kind of an eventful 2nd part of my short journey on Caltrain.

Also, I never had anyone on either train inspect my ticket at all........

Fantastic pics and info, thanks for sharing. While I have been to the Bay Area (San Francisco and Oakland) for a holiday/vacation, this was only two years before Peninsula Corridor came out, so I never really knew anything about the real-life route when I travelled. Definitely on my bucket list when I return one day.

You went on Peninsula Corridor DLC in real-life even seeing the DLC MP15DC. Your Northbound train is a DLC Baby Bullet southbound Base F40PH. Only my mom did LIRR DLC Penn Station to Hillside Support Facility because that's where Babylon Branch trains split off from Main Line.

Next week I'll be travelling from St Pancras to Faversham for the first time, in no small part due to TSW2.

It's been nearly ten years since I've been on a Class 395, and that was on the line through Ashford to Folkestone. I was only ten years old so my memories are pretty vague.

I'm quite surprised it's taken me this long to get round to doing this route. Pre covid I was visiting the London area practically once a month to have train trips, yet I never really bothered doing much in South Eastern territory. I guess it's just because the standard traction on the lines south of the Thames don't interest me as much- I'll always prefer seeing HSTs, IETs, Pendolinos etc over Electrostars. I always knew Javelins were on the route but I guess it wasn't a big enough incentive for me to visit the area, until I learned how to drive them lol. I can't wait to test how accurate my route knowledge is from a Passenger's perspective.

I'm really looking forward to it. I'm thinking of doing the Sheerness branch while I'm there, but I may prefer to spend my time photographing trains at Faversham and Rochester.

I have been inspired to travel to Germany and the UK just to get the IRL experience of the trains I'm driving in TSW. Unfortunately I have not been able to due to obvious reasons, but I hope to go there once COVID becomes a thing of the past.

If I had the money I would definitely take a look at a couple of routes and trains from TSW in Realife. I would like to see the Baby Bullet from the Peninsula Corrider live in action.

I've been to all the stations on SEHS (Chatham Main Line and HS1) because I live on the SEML. Really want to go to Germany to ride on all the routes, but mainly Ruhr Seig Nord and Koln-Aachen. Arosa Line as well, although I didn't buy it would be very beautiful

395 012 is rendered properly in game but for the others 395 002 395 017 are supposed to have a face mask paint. 395 013 Hornby model Railway that's how they should be rendered. If SEHS is set in 2020-2021.

Nice yesterday I was at TSW 2020 NEC Newark NJ to New Rochelle, NY off map portion Trenton New Brunswick Newark Airport but these days train Sim World Northeast Corridor Trenton New York via New Brunswick with Comet V 6043 leading the 15:25 Express NJ Transit northeast corridor Trenton New Brunswick Newark Airport NY Penn Station Express. If you play that in game it's actually the double decker MLV I-III

Comparing TSW2 with reality, I think it's too early based on the current technology, but DTG obviously needs more technology to deal with the gap with reality. Perhaps, in another ten years, we will be able to see many realistic games.

Went to KGX and Marylebone while I was waiting for my train back home, had to wait for ages at Ruislip Manor as I was also fixing my nans lights and stuff so i caught a Piccadilly line train to Rayners Lane to see more trains while I waited. All the pictures are on my phone though :(

This game inspired me to visit many places. Thanks to this game, I was able to visit Neuschwanstein Castle in Ostalgoi. If you want to save money on travel, find out about the system of tickets for public transport. As a rule, there are many types of passes depending on the type of transport, validity period, and travel zones. If you do not know what you are looking for, take a few minutes to find out which type of ticket is best for you. If I were you, I would familiarize myself with the platform https://www.montaregio.de/de/freize...aeu/schloss-neuschwanstein-im-ostallgaeu.html in more detail and choose an exciting lock there.

Yes, it was very inspiring. To be honest, I didn't understand the fun of traveling by train before because you can fly a plane while it's so much faster. But after the game, I wanted to try traveling on trains, and I discovered a whole new universe. After the first time I went on the train, I realized how much I had lost, especially the atmosphere of travel. I'm glad I can look up train schedules on https://www.oebbfahrplan.com/de/ and quickly orient to the best time to buy a ticket. I think I'd have been too lazy to go outside to check train schedules, and I just wouldn't have wanted to go anywhere lol

I've been to Manchester Victoria (NTP) (albeit only a few years back) and I wouldn't have thought it was the same place.

I've passed Darlington (TVL) once before, a good time ago, and hardly remember that, also seen the outside of London Victoria (BML) when I was down in London, back in June, never went inside, however.

Other than that, the only TSW route I've ever actually been on is the Cathcart Circle Line, which I use fairly regularly for Scotland games at Hampden, and sometimes just going around the southside.

(I was also passing Baker Street on the Jubilee line, does that count, as a BKL interchange :) - in fact, I've passed the Bakerloo on the WCML, does that count too?)
