Hastings would not only complete ECW, but provide the actual coastway part of the game that is missing from the route in TSW2. It would also be able to embrace other route opportunities, such as Marsh-link (Hastings/Eastbourne) to Ashford, apparently Dad Rail's favourite real life route due to being scenic. Services that go to Charing X would be visible (wether or not it is included), but they would branch off quite soon and disappear (as they do in real life). It would basically add as a massive connecting puzzle piece for all existing South East routes and potential new ones to sell. It would use many resources from the game already existing for example: Class 375 (Already in game) Class 377 (Already in game) Class 387 (Already in game) Class 313 ((Already in game, a more rare occurance) Class 66 (Already in game) Class 171 (Not in game, however could be the marketing point of a potential route to Ashford) Thank you
There's still nothing to yet suggest that route extensions are possible (SEHS has been replaced with a different version in the new game) so, since the TSW3 version is pretty much already out, it may have to wait until they can swap it out at the launch of TSW4.
Looks like they can market this as Southeast region network pack consisting of East Coastway Extended to Ashford via Hastings SEHS Extended to Ashford Brighton Mainline with Wivelsfield Branch.
Yes it can be possible to due route extensions since they did it on Southeastern High Speed and they menitoned in the TSW 3 Q&A stream that they have no plans to do anymore
SEHS is NOT a route extension - it is a re-release of the route on a new software platform (TSW3) that includes more of the route trackage than older versions. Nothing will change in the TSW2 version of the route. The issue with route extensions as DLC is that they have to be managed as an optional add-on, so there need to be multiple timetables and other core game components to handle the different variations (as not everyone who owns the base route will buy the extension). The only other way to do it would be a route re-release or update (like SEHS but on the same platform), which would mean either everyone would have to buy it again (which would piss people off who already owned the route) or it would be free for everyone (which means no real financial return on the effort for DTG).
My pictures I took yesterday of the ECW between Bexhill and St Leonards (near Hastings) that show the absolutely stunning scenery! A Class 377 heads east on the Brighton-Ore service as seen here along the gorgeous coastline between Bexhill and St Leonards. As seen from a pedestrian footbridge, another Ore-bound service with the Southeastern St Leonard's depot in the background. Seen from the same pedestrian footbridge as seen above, but looking west in the direction of Bexhill.
How about a 4CEP these were the trains that ran hastings line electrification services in 1986. The practice in 1986 was that the 4CEP was combined with 4CIG 4VEP
I want to see the East Coastway gap filled to the full route. I thought it was bizarre not to have the entire route unless they intended to "complete" it by combining the rest of it with the Marsh link and separated from the rest of East Coastway.
