no sign of it yet. I have just so little confidence that this was tested on a retail PS5 ... i.e., none. The customers do the PS5 tests, is what i now believe.
oh gawd ! Pedestrians walking thru the traffic ...right thru the non-solid vehicles .. one walked into the side of a passing tram ... i am watching pedestrans crossing into traffic from the middle of the tram stop and doing double-quick march in place at the tram stop .. just bizarre. This is not not modelled correctly at all as AI using objects with AI or any quasi-rules based AI. AI outside of neural nets and ML made terrific progress in the last decades in commercial applications. Goal-oriented AI has been a an area apart from logic prgramming fir decades now, This is ridiculous. I paid for this on Steam to get an idea of what it might be on PS5 given what he learned doing Tram Sim. Was that code not ViewApp patent or intellectual property ? What explains this mess ?
there seems to be a symptom on Steam ... in first few stops, far too many pedestrians and they behave badly, then pedestrians become quite sparse, and rather inactive, This is just a so-called custom run in Sandbox ... strictly vanilla, from one end of route to the end using first tram on offer, my only setting being of clock time to 09:00 a.m. all else just as offered as default. If it still can not do this, it remans money and time wasted.
the waiting clients at the tram stop seem worse at the head of the stop. If there is only one, maybe no issue, but if two or more, then the quick march while going no where ... like wnd-up toys stuck at a carpet ... but consider the logic: their state is in position at a tram stop next to each other, but in the course of not colliding with each other, they face the street or tram, stuck in quick march ... but their position is not changing. Who but a jogger at a red light does this ? What little immersion the game offers is immediately broken by these daft marrionettes. They are in state at stop tram not yet stopped but they are madly marching on as if waiting for sergeant to call out HALT ! just comically nuts in 2025 we were doing better in 1994 in a more demanding domain. That was decades ago on Intel 386/387 with little memory and slow hard drives and modems at maybe 9600 baud ? Colour screens were what ... SVGA ... and nVidia was what ? gawd 10 years later in USA everything AI was changing fast in mission critical domains, while academe was doing facial recognition with neural nets or NLP neither of which we needed.
I just want to say: this pedestrian movements issue has not been rocket science for decades. Why not go fishing for some EU grad school talent who are not obsessed with ML. Maybe they worked on AI with active objects in worlds using non-prcedural or multi-paradigm programming environments. Key word: environment, not language. There is no need to reinvent the wheel. Or the wind-up marrionette.
done. Tram is trapped at last right-turn at home stop .. the tram signal is frozen STOP. Minutes pass, no traffc. then some on-coming traffc make right turns. So this tram is at intersection, signalling right, but the game does not have it as stopped for a signal at an intersection and cannot detect the frozen signal at the player's intersection. I might as well not be "in" the game at all ... i could just be AI. Let it run at night, screen off. Fail, fail and fail.
