Since TSW there has been a setting to change between an HD mode and a 4K mode, but they're both very weird. Annoyingly the screen percentages seem to be very different between the two, which means that I don't know for sure what the actual resolutions are. Here's the thing though - the PS5 does not have a supersampling mode like the PS4 did. At least, there isn't a setting that forces downsampling like on the PS4 Pro. The PS5 supposedly runs games at the display's resolution, so even in 4K mode the game should be running in 1080p - assuming TSW runs in 1080p in HD mode anyway. So on my PS5, with the game set to 4K, there is no performance drop compared to using the blurry HD mode. My question is for people with 4K displays and/or a PS4 Pro. When TSW is outputting 4K on consoles, is the performance noticeably different to HD mode?
On Xbox Series X at least there is a noticeable performance increase when using the HD mode, but with the massive caveat that not only is the resolution significantly lower but a lot of the settings appear to be massively reduced too. This was the case back when I played on Xbox One X as well, which I assume would be a comparable experience to PS4 Pro.
Good to know. I assume you're on a 4K mode. The Xbox One X is significantly more powerful than the PS4 Pro, but because I've owned neither I don't know what TSW's performance would have been like on them.
