I'm just gonna go straight to the point. I want to see helicopters throughout a journey in timetable mode for a city, like when Harlem line came out I expected to see helicopters as a new feature because one it makes a lot of sense and it's something you see a lot in New York and my second reason was because I saw that helicopter advertised on the Harlem line route cover. after watching the blockbuster scenario and the fact that helicopter noises have been recorded in the background from the recording team, reignited my want for helicopters. we already get airplanes which I do love a lot but would definitely appreciate seeing even more so than the lifeless cars with nonworking headlights.
Well, AFAIK there are only departing/arriving airplanes at Gatwick airport in Rush Hour: London Commuter. What I would like to see is actual air traffic in the sky as occasional event throughout the entired ride.
Normally inside roads like Long Island rail Road and Metro North you would see at least 2 to 3 helicopters per real life service. Even the ambience being added would be OK with me as it's some thing that happens on a daily occurrence in New York
AI air traffic is something we rarely see in games unfortunately, but can enhance the atmosphere so much. A few game examples of my player experience: In ETS2 for example, helicopter occasionally hover over speed controls and crashes (it actually serves as a distance indicator to reduce the speed and avoid a speed penalty). And airplanes depart or arrive when you approach air ports (just like in London Commuter, but the immersion due the better graphics is actually a lot better than in ETS2). Another example are two F-16 jets sometimes flying over an area in a specific air manoeuvre (very dangerous to get you distracted from the streets ) Another game I have to mention in this regard is GTA:V, which actually makes it even a step better. They also have helicopters taking off and landing at certain locations like helipads but AI airplanes just spawn in as regular AI traffic, and even if you're far away from any airport you can see airplanes in the sky just as normal AI event, which is absolutely fantastic and so immersive. I miss air traffic like that in a lot of other games I've played.
Yes, I too would like helicopters near cities like NY. Interestingly, the only route where I've seen and heard them in timetable mode was at Cajon Pass.
