Help Choosing A Route

Hi everyone I thought I had all German but turns i didn't have these ones rapid transit and mainspessbarn so witch would the better out of the two for variety and track length also do they use the older or newer scoring system thanks

 

Of these two, definitely Main Spessart. More variety and interesting freight runs with quite a steep hill. If you get the BR 204 with it, you also get short freight runs and shunting in the harbour.

 

Rapid Transit is kinda a one-trick pony. TSWs very first German route, so pretty old, not too bad, and a little different from the usual German stuff.

Main Spessartbahn certainly has more variety, but I guess it also looks more like the other German routes.

Rapid Transit is a real commuter route. MSB is more suited for the RE services and freight.

Rapid Transit is a sbahn urban commuter route going through the Leipzig City tunnel. Its the first german tsw route and even after the preservation to tsw 2 you can see its age.
The db br 182 adds layers for locos using dosto formations on sbahn lines. Still it can happen that the 182 unrealisticly shows up on other older routes like HBK or the newer Dresden Riesa where it never run in reality. Rapid doesnt have cargo too.

Main Spessart Bahn being a line over the name giving Spessart is a completely different type of route.
Its completely cargo focused with a bunch of regional trains.
Due to the route ending in Gemünden there are no ICE services and the route feels (at least for me) incomplete.
The downside of the route isnt just the scenery as its bad in distance but otherwise fine, its the track between Lohr and Gemünden which wants to make a milkshake out of you. Feels like a rollercoaster.

I dont own Rapid Transit on PC but i had it on PS which i last played years ago.
I wouldnt buy it again, at least not before its on a sale making it 5 bucks.
The 182 is something ill never buy until DTG releases a future to disable certain rolling stock on routes without disabling the layer.
For Main Spessart bahn, i have that one from a sale and i dont regret buying it because its a normal and playable route.
Its still not even close to routes like Ruhr Sieg Nord or Hamburg Lübeck, but thats on DTG and MSB being a Tsw 1 route too.

 

My main qualm with this 182 is that it only swaps into freight on other routes, and not as RE with the Dostos.

Good point. If you want freight and RE on Hauptstrecke Rhein-Ruhr, you need MSB. You could argue that HRR is only worth it with these layers .

 

Rapid Transit as a route isn’t too bad if a bit linear and of course the service is an electric bus service. Rapid Transit a bit of a misnomer as it’s a S-Bahn rather than a U-Bahn or Metro. Biggest issue is the 1442 EMU. Virtually silent, gliding along the rails and you can’t run with the doors open to admit a bit of exterior noise. Never fixed and never will be, whole thing way out of support.

 

Does thd br204 add on add much to the route (mainspessbart)

 

MSB is far mote interesting to play.

 

Not a lot. I would only buy that with a big discount.

 

I ended up getting mainspessbart its aged really well still feels like a newer route i like its good drive and could a challenge in bad weather
