I've been following several tutorials on how to create a new route. Following the steps have all been successful until I import the KML file using "use selected assets" with the KML file selected and then "show guides." After this, my placemarks show in the list as they should, but not on the route map. If I click on one of the placemarks, it brings my to a coordinate that is incorrect (in this example -1283, -4686) when on google earth it shows as 42.2185, 71.0344. It also look like wherever it takes me is z fighting when I move the camera around. Any ideas what I did wrong?
I gave a second go and started from scratch. I followed every step in this tutorial: https://docs.google.com/document/u/...jUyCb1jPX13D1AbdYm3PapxTof-Q-7RdG3C/pub?pli=1 But when I get to the step to view my points on the map, they aren’t there. If I teleport to them, their 100+ off coordinates, and the viewport glitches. I've uploaded a series of photos to show what I'm experiencing.
Can you give us some information about the status of your Lidar and/or SRTM files and the progress with it? I see that you created two folders for them in your route plugin, but did you imported them already to your project and used them to generate the terrain? Also I would place a TOD4 lighting actor in the world to get a better view on what's happening with the terrain. I wouldn't emphasize on the Editor's coordinate system for now but just get a plain world with the lighting to work properly. Every other problem we can take a look at after that.
Can you post the KML file so I can try to import it as well? Also you should make a line in the KML file that represents the route's extent. This will be used to generate the Landscape Tiles and Track Tiles
I noticed that the UTM zone you're using in the LIDAR settings is incorrect for the longitude and latitude coordinates you posted. I believe you would want to use UTM zone 19. Also remember that a longitude of 71.0344 W would be entered as a negative number in the editor. I don't believe that is the total issue here, but it might be contributing to it. Have you changed any of the editor settings from their defaults?
I only setup the folder structure, both those folders are empty. Would empty folders cause issues? I've added TOD4 before, and it looks the same except it's white instead of black. It does include a line as well as the two placemarks. I did not change any of the default settings, though I didn't enter 71.0344 as a negative. Update: That was it! I tried again using -71.0344 as the map origin and that fixed it. Looks like it's supposed to. If I run into any more issues going through the tutorials i'll reach back out. Thank you all for your help!
Great! Be sure to set the UTM to 19 for your map location. That will ensure the proper alignment of all of your various data sources and Google map overlay, etc.
