Oodles. Search for PTG Rail who takes a slightly pedantic approach but that's probably just what you're looking for. Matt Peddlesden (of Dovetail) has sessions on YouTube too- perhaps less informative but more entertaining.

The Academy is pretty basic but not useless. There are guides in Steam and other videos that can fill you in on most topics.

I was in the same boat a month ago. Had no idea what was a HUD, DLC or AP!

Started the the main ‘HUD’ on Quick Drive: once you can handle reverser, brakes and throttle on the HUD, you can move to the ‘real’ controls on the loco.

The Academy tutorials are handy too.

Once you know the controls, it’s getting to know your train: acceleration, braking, etc.

Before you know it, you’ll be mastering the finer details of Armstrong Powerhouse trains!

Have to agree with inversnecky. To begin use Quick Drive and a ready made train and use the F4 HUD to get a feel for it and move on from there. Another tip, wait for the sales. :))

Not sure if this applies generally, but I got an email from Steam today offering sales on items in my wish list, so might be worth making use of this feature.
