Ok so I've learned how to configure a tandem loco set, and also two tandem loco sets where one set is in the rear of the train. I was able to get Distributed Power to work. Setting up the rear set exactly like the front set but putting the radio fuses on (in the rear lead loco) and turning on BANK COM in the front lead loco. That all works fine. However, in the following scenario I was not able to get things to work: Front of train has the tandem locos, no issues setting these two trains up to work together. Rear of the train has a loco by itself, but it is facing backwards. When I set it up for distributed power, just as with the examples above, everything seems to work except that when I push the reverser forward on the lead loco and apply power, the rear loco also pushes the reverser forward and applies power.. however, since it is facing backward, it is pulling the rear of the train away from me and working against me. At least that is what it seems to do. My only solution was to shut it down and drag it along. Am I missing something? When the rear loco faces the wrong way, what needs to change in the Distributed Power setup? Jeff
Look at the lead and front trail units. They're almost certainly running back to back, just like the two helpers. If you've set them up correctly, they will all be pulling together. The trails should have their reversers in neutral. The lead loco will control direction, whether you have one or two helpers.
Do the procedure with reverser in neutral in all engines to avoid problems, as once the procedure is finished all levers will move remotely, so you don“t need to pre-configure them in advance. Set radio and distributed power in each loco group leader (including yours) and then banking COM on your engine only. In this order you should not have any problems with reverser directions. To be sure that all works use external view on the last engine and get close to the window. When you set your leading unit reserver to Forward you should see the rear unit reverser moving to Backwards in the external view. Then everything is ok to go. Cheers
ok thanks I will double check my setup. Unfortunately, if I try to access any controls on the rear loco just to verify settings, the game pops up a message asking if I want to give up control and (I assume) quit the mission.
