I have seen a lot of people running into trouble specifically with Sandpatch and how to set up the multi unit locomotives. This manual is from the Peninsula corridor route but it explains in steps how to set up multi unit locomotives and distributed power (MU helper unit on back) locomotives. The one thing you do need to do when setting up distributed power units is make sure your banking comm is on in your front lead locomotive. For quick reference this starts at about page 12.
