    Regarding heritage line DLCs.................

I know that DTG already have the West Somerset Railway DLC, but that was released for TSW2....

If DTG published more heritage lines, and maybe, they could pass a percentage of the retail price to the heritage railway that is featured in the DLC. There are plenty of such lines in the UK and around the world, small and large, standard and narrow gauge. There could be a collection of the shorter heritage routes in a single DLC if the individual preserved route is only a couple of miles.

It would not only give the heritage lines another stream of income, but also give visitors to the lines the chance to drive on the line they have just ridden on. This would also work in reverse, someone buys the Heritage DLC, and then decides to visit the line to see it for themselves would benefit the heritage railway as well.

I know that a lot of heritage railways are always after funds not just for engineering projects (GCR Reunification for example) but in some cases just to keep afloat and to survive. Who wants to see preserved heritage lines of any type being closed because of lack of funds to keep things going? Not me....

Perhaps the price for these could be around say £15 - £25 (Depending on route length/complexity) with a third of the ticket price being donated to the heritage lines.

Sorry to ramble on, but these sort of places need help to survive these days, and any income stream is probably very welcome.

So, come on DTG Matt and Co, give those preserved heritage lines a small financial 'leg-up', I'm sure that some great routes could be created.

It's a lovely idea, but the harsh reality is that 25mph preserved lines are not what people aspire to play in a train simulator for the most part. WSR is one of the lesser played routes in the game, bottom end of the scale. When you see people talking about it they often describe it as very nice but something they will only come back to very periodically because it's just too slow for them.

I'd love to see more preserved railways personally, but the time spent on making one of those can be spent making something that a lot more people will enjoy, unfortunately.

    Matt.

As well as the lines themselves, which I understand frustrate some players, there are also multiple rebuild/new build projects for long gone types that could use a financial leg up by way of donations in much the same way. A collaborative effort could help some of these projects reach fruition as well as giving us some incredible examples of classic types to play with.

Hi Matt, I know what you mean regarding the 25mph limit on preserved lines. It's not really to everybody's taste, more of a niche thing.

Another tack may be to create something like the Peak Forest DLC that includes the preserved line location, extends the route, and takes the player back in time to its heyday. After all, time-travel with Doctor Who has just celebrated it's 60th birthday!

On another note, I have just bought the Blackpool Preston DLC (love it by the way) and getting to grips with the Pacer..... Wow, that bouncy suspension has to be seen to be believed! Must have been really uncomfortable on a long trip. I live in Hampshire so never travelled on a 142 to have the 'experience'.

    Anyway, enough rambling,

    Keep up the good work,

    Cheers, Richard.
