I introduce to you all, de heuvellandlijn
The heuvellandlijn is a line from Maastricht (capital of Limburg) to Heerlen, more specifically, from Maastricht Randwyck to Kerkrade centrum. Also its rated the most beautiful line in the Netherlands.

    trains:
The trains that run on this route are often the stadler gtw emu and the stadler flirt tri-courant, wich runs from Liege- guillemins to Aachen Hbf via Maastricht and Heerlen. the gtw are sometimes replaced with the stadler FLIRT-III emu.

    upload_2024-10-9_10-58-36.jpeg the FLIRT- tri courant
upload_2024-10-9_10-59-4.jpeg arriva flirt-III (not the yellow loco)

the differance between the arriva FLIRT tri courant and the FLIRT-III, is the tri courant is 1 car longer and has 1 door on each car rather than the FLIRT-III having two on each car. and the tri courant can go to belgium and germany, because it is a multiple system loco with etcs(b), pzb(g), memor(b) and atb(nl)

    services/timetable:
    rs18
: regionale stoptrein (regional slow train), starts at Maastricht randwyck and stops at every stop and terminates at Kerkrade Centrum.
re18: regionale express, starts at Liege Guillemins, driver change at Maastricht (where the player starts) and goes via Heerlen (where the player gets of for another driver change) to Aachen hbf,

    route add-ons:
re18 complete route from Maastricht to Aachen hbf (no driver change, the player drives it completely to Aachen)

the Flirt-III and timetable services to Roermond from Maastricht Randwyck with the intercity service including the ns VIRM from Maastricht

i would love to hear criticism on this and maybe further ideas

A Dutch route wouldn't really feel the same for me without the iconic NS trains.

Tripple Country route would be awesome to see! Thing is, Liege will be dead asf, We can have bit of NS ICM3 and SNG action there and Aachen will be busy, so mostly Liege will be a concern. Beside that it would be a great route with some iconic stations!

First of all, I'll second what Purno said, in that, a Dutch route without NS trains wouldn't really feel right.

That said, I think this seems a bit short, but it is a nice idea for a longer route.

You mention the total route for a lot of the trains on this route would be Liège to Aachen through Maastricht and Heerlen.
This actually seems like a fun idea in its entirety.

Though for that, I would say both the Netherlands, which we're getting, and Belgium should both be properly established first, as I do not think cross-border routes are a proper way to introduce a new country in most cases, unless it uses iconic domestic trains still, and the majority of the route is in that new country.

Liège to Aachen through Maastricht, a tri-country route, would be a fun idea in the far future.
Though it might beg the question of why not just doing the direct Liège to Aachen bit, but maybe doing both, making it a small network circle line, could still be just within the limit for a route, as a quick calculation comes in at a bit over 100+km for that.

Like a lot of other routes, (temporary) ghost trains can give routes more life. Even with less details (like ZuSI kind of trains) and static, the trains gives more enjoyment on routes. On this route, the V-IRM can be added in Maastricht and Heerlen.
