Hello everybody, I'm Jan from Germany and I just started working as Community Manager at Dovetail Games. I'm an avid gamer, and I enjoy playing video games, board games, and roleplaying games. I grew up in a Nintendo household and am a big fan of all things Zelda and Metroid. I'm also a big foodie and love trying out new recipes. Cooking is one of my favourite creative outlets and I love trying out new things. Washing up not so much… During convention season I can be found attending most anime and comic conventions in Germany and Austria looking for retro games. And if you want to see me ramble for way too long just ask me about my favourite tabletop roleplaying games. When I'm not indulging in my love for games or food, I like to spend my free time reading books or being out in nature, preferably at the same time. I find peace and tranquillity in the outdoors, and I love exploring new trails and taking in the beauty of nature. My professional work life started with an apprenticeship as bookbinder way too long ago, I then moved onto the role as team leader for eight years before I made the move to Austria where I worked as a conductor for ÖBB for almost four years. I started out as a ticket inspector, then moved on to actual conductor work, while being stationed at Vienna Main Station. I mainly worked on local trains in that area, while later focusing on long distance routes including Railjets, ICEs and EuroCity trains to Graz, Villach and Passau amongst others. My favourite line was the Semmeringtalbahn, that view is just gorgeous. The most challenging, at least in the beginning, would have to be the Kalman Imre EuroNight trains from Hegyeshalom to Salzburg and back. I’ve got some stories to tell from those trains… But in the end the best part about working on a train for me was seeing people reunited with their loved ones at the platform, and knowing I helped bringing people together always made the struggles worth it and I look back very fondly to my time with ÖBB. I'm excited to bring my passion for gaming to Dovetail Games and look forward to interacting with you in the future. Hallo miteinander, Mein Name ist Jan, ich komme aus Deutschland und bin das neuste Mitglied des Community Manager Teams hier bei Dovetail Games. Ich bin ein begeisterter Gamer und liebe Rollen-, Brett- und Videospiele. Ich bin mit Nintendo aufgewachsen und bin daher ein großer Zelda und Metroid Fan. Außerdem liebe ich es zu kochen und probiere immer gerne neue Rezepte aus, gutes Essen genieße ich mit Wonne. Das Abspülen eher nicht… Ihr findet mich auf den meisten Anime und Comic Messen in Deutschland und Österreich, wo ich fieberhaft nach Retrospielen suche und falls ihr mich mal so richtig abschweifen und viel zu lange reden hören wollt fragt mich einfach nach meinem liebsten Pen & Paper Rollenspiel. Wenn ich nicht gerade meiner Liebe für gutes Essen oder Spielen fröne, verbringe ich gerne Zeit in der freien Natur oder beim Lesen. Am liebsten beides gleichzeitig. Beim Wandern finde ich Ruhe und meinen inneren Frieden und ich liebe es neue Wege zu erkunden und die Schönheit der Natur zu genießen. Mein beruflicher Werdegang begann mit einer Ausbildung zum Buchbinder vor viel zu langer Zeit, danach arbeitete ich als Teamleiter für ungefähr acht Jahre. Vor ein paar Jahren wanderte ich nach Österreich aus wo ich zuletzt fast vier Jahre als Zugbegleiter für die ÖBB arbeitete. Dort habe ich zuerst als Ticketkontrolleur angefangen, bevor ich die Weiterbildung zum Zugbegleiter abschloss und am Wiener Hauptbahnhof stationiert wurde. Anfangs noch hauptsächlich im Nahverkehr, später dann immer mehr im Fernverkehr wo ich, unter anderem, Railjets, ICEs und EuroCity Züge nach Graz, Villach und Passau begleitete. Meine Lieblingsstrecke war die Semmeringtalbahn, die Aussicht ist einfach unschlagbar. Am meisten haben mich, zumindest anfangs, die Kalman Imre EuroNight Züge herausgefordert die ich zwischen Hegyeshalom, Salzburg und zurück begleitet habe. Da könnte ich euch Geschichten erzählen… Aber letzten Endes war der Anblick von Menschen die glücklich am Bahnsteig vereint wurden immer die größte Belohnung für mich und ich behalte meine Zeit bei den ÖBB immer sehr positiv in Erinnerung. Ich freue mich darauf meine Leidenschaft für Spiele bei Dovetail Games einzubringen und bin schon sehr auf meine Arbeit hier gespannt.
