Hi folks! I want to suggest a historical east German route, set sometime between the late 1970's and early 80's A lot of people are kind of fed up with german routes, and i get why, we just have so many that aren't all that different in terms of scenery, available services and so on. That is why i think a historical route would really help to freshen things up a bit. East Germany has some beautiful scenery, and it being a historical route would also mean seing some old cars and factorys, so there'd defenitely something nice to look at besides the tracks. Since it would be operated by the Deutsche Reichsbahn instead of the Deutsche Bahn, it would also be a very different driving experience compared to other German routes. New signals, new services, new rolling stock and so on. Right now we already have three locos in the game, that where originally built and widely used in the GDR, the DB BR 143, the DB BR 155 and the DB BR 204, and theres a fourth one on the way, the DB BR 232. All these would need only very minor changes and a paintjob, to be period accurate to the 80's and become the DR BR 243, DR BR 250, DR BR V100 and DR BR 132 respectively. This route could also be the perfect contender for the first german steam loco DLC, whenever steam come out, since the Deutsche Reichsbahn regularly operated steam locos until 1988 and in the 70's, a third of east germany locos were still steam powered. In conclusion, this route could be a new, refreshing touch on somethign well known, and development would be a lot easier because they wouldn't need to create any new locos form scratch, only adjust some of the already existing ones. DTG already proved they are very capable of doing a historical route properly with NTP, so i bet they could pull this of too.
Well to be honest, i don't know all that much about the east german network, and ouldn't know what lines would be iconic, good looking, busy or otherwise interesting. I just want to promote the setting, as i think it has a lot of potential. Both for the players and developers, as they could "cheap out" by reusing locos but still delivering something new and interesting.
Well it would've have been better to introduce a route that might intrest some players. Modern German routes are more popular than historic german routes according to dtg so maybe to get more intrest in a old german content, introduce a route
