Oh I would be careful with that.... sounds like too much interpretation on what simply sounds to me like "I am taking over the release button, I need to wait for Matt to tell me that they have fixed it and then I can press it" Was there any time frame mentioned when they will have it fixed or even how much progress was made? I believe not if I did not absolutely misunderstood them?
The layers for console are not almost done. It is still listed on the roadmap as [Investigate] in the In Planning section and major work needs doing to the core memory use and optimisation before the layers can be added. As Sam explained in the video it won’t be appropriate to release it until all that core work is done, and that’s going to take a long long time.
Just gotta continue the narrative of "we can take anything out of context", as I've done here. *Thumbs Up Emoji*
Agreed, I was the one who asked about this in yesterday's stream and Adams reaction was a lot more positive then what I'm reading here now... He clearly said that the work has been done and they're just waiting for an ok by Matt
He did clearly say he was waiting for Matt but he never actually said the work was done. He said Matt was holding the keys to it and he was waiting for Matt to pass it over and give him an appropriate time to release it, which did give the impression it was ready to release. Sam then went on to explain what he meant by ‘appropriate’ and that meant when all the code was done to allow it to work. Sam’s wording was in present tense, which also gave the impression for a while that the code work was already done, but then he went on to say if they released it now it wouldn’t work, showing that the work hadn’t been done yet. It would have been clearer if one of them had said “It’s a long way off, there’s a lot of work to be done on the core before we can even think about releasing it” but the streams are more conversational rather than being a series of such bold statements. If you take that conversation in isolation and not put it in the context of where the item is on the roadmap and what has previously been said about it, then it’s easy to come to the wrong conclusion. We’ve had confirmation now though. It’s not ready.
Totally agreed. If you take parts of the conversation out of context you could believe the issue was sorted and ready, but listening to the entire conversation it’s clear it’s not.
