    Stoomtram Hoorn - Medemblik ( Wiki Dutch |Wiki English| website )

This 20km stretch of local railway was first opened in 1887 and ran passenger services until 1935, when it was temporarily closed for passengers until May 1940, to later in January 1941 be permanently closed. The route starts at the station of the harbour city Hoorn and runs a zig-zag pattern (to avoid having to buy land from the local farmers as much as possible) to the harbour city Medemblik. Now it is run and maintained as a tourist attraction largely by volunteers. It's this current state of the railway I'm suggesting.

The station at Hoorn is right next to the regular railways

The museum is situiated at the former shunting and goods area of the station and for the museum in 1987 they 'finished' a station building that was completely redone in 2015 heavily inspired by an old station from Coevorden.

From there the line goes past 12 local stations (stopping at some of them), namely:
    1. Hoorn Koepoortsweg
    2. Westerblokker
    3. Zwaag
    4. Zwaagdijk
    5. Wognum-Nibbixwoud
    6. Wijzend
    7. Benningbroek-Sijbekarspel
    8. Abbekerk-Lambertschaag
    9. Midwoud-Oostwoud
    10. Twisk
    11. Opperdoes
    12. Opperdoes Oosteinde
    To stop finally at Medemblik.

Some images of the most notable stations:

The main pièce de résistance is the NS 7742 "Bello", built in 1914 for the Hollandse IJzeren Spoorweg-Maatschappij (Holland Iron Railway Company), Netherlands' first railway company founded in Amsterdam in 1837, and runs on this line for the museum since 1985.

But the museum has a fairly large collection of (industrial) rolling stock, some Dutch and some German. Like this tank engine from 1929, built for the nitrogen factory in Sluiskil

    This tram built in 1904

    And this one from 1921
    [IMG]
This German one from Hannover-Langenhagen built in 1943
    [IMG]
    Other German one from 1887
    [IMG]
As well as a couple diesels, like this British one from 1941
    [IMG]
    Dutch one from 1935
    [IMG]
And of the Dutch NS 200 (1938) and 300 (1950) series

I'm fairly sure they will be happy to assist you in any way they can reproducing their stock in the simulator. Some impressions during a special event in 2018 where the German steam locomotive from Stoom Stichting Nederland of Rotterdam paid a visit as well.

More information in the Dutch wiki linked at the start.

Another steam locomotives route from the Netherlands and if you want a conventional route to link up with that will be Amsterdam CS Hoorn Railway with ATB EG/NG.
