Guys, I had high hopes that with the migration to TSW3, they would fix the over-bright gamma issues with this route, and the horrid original-release sounds for the ES44AC. The sounds on the new ES44C4 are just astounding to my ears, I'm at a total loss as to why they couldn't port the same sounds over to the ES44AC with a proper NS K5LA horn. I'm hoping some in our modding community can resolve this! Is it because HSC was done by Skyhook & not in-house by DTG?
Shg has had a history of bad sounds. They didnt have even have gevo sounds so they had to ask the community so it's much better than what we would have gotten if they didn't have any sounds. They probably didn't have time to update hsc since they were focused on fixing the 187 which people waited over a year for. They probably didn't even have access to the new sounds when dtg made their version. Shg doesn't have time to fix everything unfortunately. There is a modder who only focused on american freight engine and horn audio but he has to update every single one of his mods for every freight route in the game and he's quite busy with his own life so we'll just have to wait
I've got plenty of time to be patient & wait for things to settle down. I play Destiny 2 in a 100+ member clan, and we're just getting into week 3 of the new season. That's almost like a second job if you want to keep raking-in the weekly pinnacle rewards!
Yeah after trying the ES44C4 from Cajon Pass, the ES44AC from Horseshoe Curve sounded like 2 stroke grass trimmer, what a terrible terrible sound. I hope someone in the community have ability to kind of adapted the Cajon Pass' ES44C4 sound into it. But there is one thing i appreciate, the intermodal train now have an appropriate weight, before update the weight on intermodal was ridiculously light, approx 2500 tons i think. Now it weigh 6000+ tons, yes still light compared to real life one, but i'll take it.
I wonder if we can change the air brakes back to realistic, they release way too fast...... I know it was changed because it took too long, but wonder if there is a document we can alter?
Intermodals aren't that heavy, thus the term 'fast freights'..... some are very light, generally they aren't that heavy unless they are 110 in length...
It would make perfect sense for DTG/Skyhook to port the Cajon Pass sounds over to Horseshoe Curve. I don't own HC yet but updates like that would convince me to give it a go. As it is... guhhh, those sounds are truly, truly awful.
A bigger issue is the dynamic brakes on the ES44AC that don’t work properly. They have been set up really badly and are mainly unusable but very much necessary to traverse the route.
I agree with alot of what you guys have said, the sounds and dynamic brake mechanics on the ES44AC are woefully in need of improvement. I just did my first Johnstown->Altoona run on HSC in TSW3 and inexplicably derailed between Gallitzin and Altoona again, a problem thats been happening in TSW2 for a few months now. In TSW2 I could at least mitigate this problem with frequent saves along this stretch but not in TSW3, arg. DW
Gamma is a weird thing with TSW2 routes because most of them are too dark. HSC is actually the one that looks most realistic on my TV’s default game mode settings. I visited the real life HSC and SPG areas this summer and the first thing I thought when I played the game again was SPG was way too dark and HSC looked more real (for a clear sunny day at least). I find now that to make the TSW2 routes look good I increase the gamma setting right on the TV… but that makes HSC look bad. So the solution is that I just adjust the gamma settings based on what route I’m playing. Most TSW2 routes I increase gamma. HSC, East Coastway, and TSW3 I leave at default.
I don't like having to play yo-yo with my monitor or video card settings. Bescot's HSC mod on TSC made that route finally enjoyable for me (and mad props to him for doing at my request in less than 6 hours!).
