First of all: well done Skyhook! Another American freight route, but it feels different than the other ones. Compared with SPG the track layout feels partially much more open and there is a long straight and fast (50-70mph) track section, the other sections are slower and more twisty. Like in SPG or SMH you ride up the hill and roll down again, which is quite varied. A very important bonus: with the Scenario Editor you can even drive passenger trains on this route, because on both ends, in Johnstown and in Altoona are also passenger platforms. Just googled it and in reality Amtrak is the relevant service provider. The landscape and environment looks as always impressive and very detailed. So the track builders had fun. Of course the highlight forms the "Horseshoe Curve" itself. Even on 8th gen consoles you have a very wide view from here and it serves as a vantage point. Also worth mentioning is the museum wagon collection in Altoona. Haven't seen all yet, but it is definitly a good addition to the TSW route collection. ...and as always some packaged sreenshots:
You may have a wide view at Gen 8, but you don't have the 50 car trains like SPG has. So with reduced content, earliest buy if the discount is big enough.
However, since the route isn't electrified and the only Amtrak loco in the game is the ACS 64, it can't work except in Off the Rails mode
Yeah, it's necessary to activate the "Off the Rails" mode for getting the F40PH, which I previously repainted as Amtrak. The coaches are still have the VIA livery, so they also need a repaint.
