This is probably really easy to do but I can't figure it out. I have managed to 'separate' the various windows that you view when working on timetables. (Timetable / Toolbar / Details). I would like to put them all back together again. How do I do this? See pic below to give you an idea. (I guess that this can happen in all views?) Thanks.
Click and hold the tab (the one to the right of the "U" Unreal icon) and drag it anywhere you like (main window/separate floating window). For example, like this:
Thanks Robert. That was very helpful. Now I've just got to work out why the Editor has started to crash more often than normal, especially when trying to set up call-on dependencies.
I'm not at a stage for my project yet, where working with timetables becomes relevant. So I can't help you out for this part, unfortunately. However, I'm experiencing that the Editor crashes more often than normal when placing tracks and is very, very annoying. I don't know why certain operations seem to have a higher probability to cause crashes. I don't think that RAM exhaust or anything like that is a plausible reason. The only way to continue with constant crashes, is to constantly save the project. I click on Save (Ctrl + S) and Save All (Ctrl + Shift +S) every 15 to 20 seconds after I have placed a new piece of track.
That sounds very familiar. In my case just trying to set up a dependency, ticking a box, requires at least 8-10 attempts. As you know every crash requires you to reboot the Editor and costs 2-3 minutes in time. So approx 30 minutes work time to tick a box and I needed to do it 8 times to get my trains out of the depot. (The trouble is I need to do it 8 more times to put them back in again). I'd normally say "It's all good fun isn't it?" but it isn't.
No, it's not fun, but having our aim in the eye we take the hurdles I guess (so far at least). In my case, the thing about rebooting the Editor is also a tedious task. Not that I only lose the tracks laid so far at the crash, but I also have to get myself into the same spot again and enable the Google Maps Overlay and dependent upon track setting changes need to readjust those to the state I had as the last one. (In fact, I'm doing this all the way while I write this message here). I mean it's probably not annoying as in your case, but still ceases the fun and reduces motivation drastically. Problem in the case of the Googe Maps Overlay is that everytime I reenable the Google Maps Overlay (even if it's just a tiny tiny little amount), Google reduces a few micro cents of my credit on my Google Cloud account I think, which is very bad. Dovetail Games really should focus on getting the Editor more stable as quick as possible.
Apart from setting up dependencies (and I only mean the ticking the "Call-On" box) then I usually have quite good runs at it. But this one function, for me anyway, seems to be a bit of a nightmare. I am making progress but, sometimes, it is painful. (And then you have to re-run the simulation to see if your timetable even works). Which routes are you working on re timetables? In my case I have to open the route, open the map, find what I want to do in my timetable, scroll down the 'details' bit, tick the dependencies box, watch it freeze & then crash and then, after lots of swearing, repeat !!! I hope Editor stability is on a roadmap somewhere?
