Hi, I tried posting this in the Creator forum but there's so little throughput that it's ended up just dropping off the page so thought I'd try here... I'm trying to create a consist of Mk.3 carriages, with a Class 87 loco at either end. The problem I have is that the Class 87s won't 'snap' onto the carriages, thus won't form a consist. I can place them close and simply couple up in-game, but this isn't very helpful when trying to create a scenario with a rolling start! Any ideas? Cheers
The Mk3 coaches come in two versions - Those in HST Formations don't have Buffers as the Buckeye Coupling takes all the strain. The Coaches used in Loco Hauled stock have buffers and you need to use Buffered stock to let the Class 87 couple. WCML North & WCML over Shap has the correct type of Mk3 coaches.
A quick workaround in scenario editor (if you don’t want to tick ‘make all couplers compatible’) is to find a piece of ‘translator’ rolling stock that is compatible with both types, include it in the appropriate position in the formation, and then just reorder the vehicles. Then you can delete the translator vehicle and, voila. For example before AP released their LHCS Mk3a/b pack, the AP HST upgrade was the visually best set of Mk3s (assuming you didn’t notice the lack of buffers.) To force them to couple to a screw-coupled locomotive, initially form up the train with an AP/Waggonz Mk3 DVT between the first coach and the loco, then once all coupled, simply swap the position of the DVT within the consist and the coach will have been tricked into attaching to the (non-compatible) loco.
