The Above Image here, is an image I took on Riviera line, in TSW, now, as much as TSW graphically looks good, you can tell it's a game. This is that same image, reimagined with AI, with Google Gemini, and it is just really uncanny, and a bit scary how real it looks, it genuinely looks like it's been shot with a camera, and it's used the materials from the TSW image for it. Something I just wanted to share, because it's fascinating, and at the same time, scary.
And data from the internet, including pictures of the real thing. Nothing new under the sun, fake bank notes exist from long ago, and they fool us everyday. Homo homini lupus You can use a fork to eat, or as a weapon. So, humans will use AI to make paraplegics stand up and... to kill other humans.
I was reading earlier that a viaduct somewhere in Lancashire was damaged by an earthquake. The earthquake was real, but the damaged viaduct was verified to be an AI image. Looked convincing though.
Yeah that reminds us that we need to be critical of what we're presented with. But that's always been the case ! I think we don't need information censorship like what our foutriquet wants to impose on us right now, here in France. I recall my grandmother who used to make fun of me when I was a gullible kid in front of the TV. She had lived through the Nazi period in pre-war Germany and had learned to distrust what she was told.
I feel like all the folks who clamor for unregulated AI and its rapid advancement have never seen Terminator, Matrix, etc. I am not inherently opposed to AI, and nurturing and developing it as a tool under close observation and firm guard rails in place, but it is becoming too smart and too capable too quickly, and people are relying on it too heavily to completely overtake tasks with little oversight.
